Sunday 31st. After another eventful days racing yesterday, we once again made a really good profit, with ECCLESTON at 9/1 very nearly getting us off to the perfect start, unfortunately Daniel Tudhope was short of room at a crucial stage and did run on very strongly to get us a place. Our best bet of the day and also my FREE column tip, duly obliged, AKTABANTAY at 9/4, under what can be considered as one of the rides of the season by Ryan Moore, which ensured us a winning day again, our fourth on the trot and then the long wait until our final two bets at Market Raisin.
CHESTERFIELD was our third and final leg of our days ew Trixie and if the run in had of been as it used to be, longer, we would of won, but had to settle for another second and a profit on our Trixie.
The LATE BETTING service clients are on CALM ATTITUDE at 16/1 and as he hits the front at the half a furlong post, I think we have hit the jackpot, only for him to get mugged on the line and finish a most annoying second. Thankfully we have had a very good month on the LATE SERVICE and that should put us up to somewhere near 50 points profit for the month.
Our final bet of the day and the month was TREGARO, who at 3/1 looked a really good bet, especially as we were pretty certain the favourite was a non stayer and the weights favoured us immensely. Pity TREGARO wasn’t in our Trixie, because he bolted up at a very well backed 15/8, to finish off a really good profitable day.
A lovely Sunday morning and no time for church as already the phones have been red hot and we have a bet in the first at Brighton, SECRET MISSILE, who I am told is going to be jumped out of the stalls and attempt to lead all the way and at 5/1, if this is the case he is a cracking ew bet to nothing. MOTOU ridden by AP, if he comes back to anywhere near his old form has a massive chance and at 7/2. I bet and email both these out and also advise an ew double.
Just as the dust has settled and the bacon is sizzling in the pan, we get another big bet at Brighton, EMMAN BEE, who is currently trading at 9/2, with the strength of this information, I have no hesitation in betting and emailing him out blind.
That Grumbling Don is at it again, is there a poor old Jockey that can actually ride a horse in his eyes, as each jockey seems to get his turn to be slated in the Sunday Sermon, this week it was James Doyle’s turn on FUTURE EMPIRE and not even a mention of Ryan Moore master class ride, be consistent at least.
It’s the last day of what we can call a difficult month and we get it off to the perfect start as SECRET MISSILE does exactly as we expected and leads all the way and bolts up by an uncontested seven lengths. This has ensured us of our fourth winning day on the trot, but my mind is now firmly on MOTOU, because if he can win we have had an amazing escape and just about turned our month around again, after four very near misses in the past few days. Three out MOTOU is running like a drain and I can’t believe AP is not even going to get us place and once again a 5/1 winner has gone begging in our ew double. The day and the month does finish on a high as EMMAN BEE wins very nicely giving us over 25 points profit on the day, I’m still smarting at MOTOU as AP has just about won every other race on the card and left wishing I had put EMMAN BEE in our ew double and than we really would of had the great escape.
Monday 1st. A cracking end to the month, shame about the start, but we are firmly back on track again. Let’s make sure we make a strong start and continue in the same vein as we finished.
I am going to Huntingdon today, where I have just emailed out our first bet of the month, THATS A FACT, which I have just backed and I shall also be backing him again on again on course.
I was going to meet the boys in Weatherspoon’s today for a catchup and a crack, after my week of zero alcohol, but alas it will have to be tomorrow now. The crowd at Huntingdon is quite lively for a miserable Monday. I thought we were going to get a late Indian summer in September this year, maybe Michael Fish has come out of retirement.
As Davey Russell creeps up the inside on THATS A FACT, barring accidents he can be called the winner two out and we have thankfully hit the ground running and posted another winning day and more importantly got September off to a winning start.
Tuesday 2nd. Bellie Boys on the leader board for September, wow you may say, but when we have come so accustomed to being bang up there three weeks of hell seems half a life time, trust me.
I arrange our belated day out and Tony the Machine and I decide to visit some old stamping grounds, Great Yarmouth, as we rock up the first port of call is the Kentucky on the high street, to get some substance in us prior to our hopefully large alcoholic intake. A bargain bucket and masses of wraps later, we head to the Colonal H to see the charming Ruth, this was one of Kens favourite watering holes, RIP mate. She is her normal jolly self with a large vodka in tow and a smile, I think we are now captured for the day.
I have bet and emailed out two selections today ROCKET ROB from the tricky Willie Mussen yard, ew at 9/1 and LAST MINUTE LISA in the last at Goodwood at 3/1.
I don’t know how the Jolly Jock aka The tartan tipster is going to cope with having to pick a horse in every race of every day for the Ledger festival as he cried off after only two days of the Ebor. I just hope there is room under Eddie the Stats bed for him to hide. As for Rick Parfitt, Jolly, stick to your hot whores list you have more chance of scoring.
Ruth is in blinding form, well I think it’s her anyway, because I can only see a vague silhouette through the bottom of her glass. Tony and I are struggling as the Kentucky has blocked the way and although we attempt to drink we are fighting a losing battle and after ROCKET ROB misses a place, we admit defeat and head homewards.
Our spirits are lifted on the way home as we listen to Hughsey give LAST MINUTE LISA a peach of a ride and wins easily, to bank us another winning day and that continues our winning streak.
Wednesday 3rd. Slowly, slowly catch a monkey, we are quietly creeping back up the table and have already amassed a thirty five point profit for September. Which now gives us six winning days on the trot.
Today seems the day for some juicy prices as my emails and selections include OPERATEUR ew at 7/1, SILVERRICA ew at 5/1 and the Smiley ridden, ex pointer, KILLIMORDALY also ew at 7/1.
I get a call asking me if i can travel up to York tomorrow to meet a publisher called Steve who is very interested in turning my weekly BETFAN diary/column into a book, which I find quite flattering and exciting.
In the first race I am told that the Ben Haslem trained EVER SO MUCH is cherry ripe today and barring accidents is fully expected to win, my enthusiasm is temped a shade when I look at my tissues and see that I have him priced up as a 1/3 shot, but am pleasantly surprised to see that he is in fact trading at a shade odds on. I have absolutely no hesitation in getting my bettors to punt him for me and also putting him up as a maximum bet on my LATE SERVICE.
OPERATEUR runs a gallant race in defeat and finishes 2nd to what can be called an unusual set of events surrounding the Jim Best yard, AP and a non runner. In short Jim Best pulls one of his two runners out, punts the other off the boards, puts AP on it and wins, beating us in the process, even money we haven’t heard the last of this.
AP has more of an armchair ride on EVER SO MUCH as he just has to point him in the correct direction for a farcical win. Our other two, SILVERRICA and KILLIMORDALY both run well below par and contributes to our first losing day in seven, I talked that up this morning didn’t I.
Thursday 4th. I’m on the 10-17 to York this morning and meeting Holden in the station bar and then onto meet Steve the publisher. Just before I set off, I was told that the Alan Swinbank yard were going for a touch on their ARYIZAD, who I bet and emailed out advising taking the 11/2 with William Hills was a good idea.
On route I attempt to bet put up MADE IN RIO at 15/8 as a win bet. As I arrive at Peterborough for my change and at last get some decent internet coverage, I notice neither my bets or emails have been delivered. Annoyed at this fact, I have no option but to resend and rubbing salt in the wound RIO has shortened and is now trading at 13/8. Stable Line Colds column doesn’t help my mood, but it is quite amusing, better than cleaning the trains toilets I suppose.
I arrive into York expecting Holden and a beer to be waiting at the bar, nothing and nobody, a text later, oh, thought you were on the 2-40 not the 1-40, sometimes he makes the Jolly Jock look generous and flash.
When he has finally finished his weekly bath we meet in the Living Room to discuss our planned meeting and what to expect.
I get a very interesting call advising me that WIENER VALKKYRIE is better than the price of 10/1 suggests, although this is his first run, I have an ew bet on him and also email him out to my LATE SERVICE clients.
The meeting with Steve goes very well and I now have an idea of what is expected of me and how we can move forward with my best seller, lol.
Although MADE IN RIO trades very short in running, he fades away rather tamely, maybe suggesting he has had enough after a busy season.
We are hoping that DANZENO makes the cut for the Betfred Sprint on Saturday at Haydock, I have an ew bet on him at 25/1 and suggest on the bottom of my daily email all my clients do likewise.
WEINER VALKKYRIE gets the heart pumping as he cruises through the gears and looks the most likely winner at the furlong post, only to get beaten by a 66/1 shot, after a very sympathetic and quiet introduction by William Buick. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this on the Jocks hot whores list as he is most defiantly one for the notebooks.
Simon Walker never quite looks like getting up after being caught short for room at a critical point on ARYZAD, but ensures we get a place for a small profit.
A night out in York tonight and the unenviable task of trying to prize some folding out of Holden’s wallet. Missoula is always a good starting point and then onto Akbar’s for an Indian, not my first choice, but I have to tow the line.
I am pleasantly surprised by how good the Indian actually is, but not at all by Holden’s red wine fuelled antics of falling asleep just as the bill arrives. Back to the hotel to put the loo rolls in the fridge ready for the mornings rush.
Friday 5th. A busy Friday morning and I don’t mean in the Thomas, I have three big bets to punt and email out, MADEED at 7/4, who’s gallops have been reported as sparkling at home, TESTA ROSA at 5/1 is an ew steal and finally a big win bet in the last at Kempton on SABORIDO at 3/1. Time for a quick breakfast, at my favourite York hotel, the Queens and then onto a second meet with Steve to hopefully tie up the loose end and seal my book deal.
It’s official you can all buy the black sheep of the family an apt Christmas present, George “Bellie Boy” Orwells new book, very similar to Animal Farm in places I must admit.
Celebration time and all is rosey, Holdens now getting some colour in his cheeks, three empty bottles fill our table and a couple of gin and tonics and I am sure I have won the day and got him on a jolly. All of a sudden he gets a call and has to leave, Mmmmm I wonder if there was anybody on the other end of the dirty dogs mobile as he never returns, a dirty trick, stand me up at the start of my trip and leaves me at the end, who needs enemies.
MADEED gets smashed up in the betting into 5/4 only to finished third, not the greatest of starts, maybe it’s a bit of payback for my attempted dirty deed.
I wobble onto the 6-01 train and head homewards. TESTA ROSSA just fails to get up and indeed is an ew steal and secures us a small profit ew.
Now it’s the long journey home and wait for our last winner runner at Kempton. The journey is made even more tedious as my mobile crashes and the electrical sockets are not working. If the train runs to time I arrive at 9-15 to be collected by my father and I can listen to the 9-20 on his mobile. For once all runs to time and I can fortunately listen to SABORIDO bolt in and stuff the short priced favourite. A perfect end to a perfect day, well for me anyway, I don’t know how Simons went heheheh, although I’m sure he will inform me in the morning.
Saturday 6th. A good three card brag hand yesterday a 1,2,3 and thankfully our biggest bet SABORIDO at 3/1 obliged and gave us a good 20ish point winning day.
Once again our anti post bet today in the Sprint has been scuppered by him not making the cut and getting balloted out, note all monies should be returned.
TODAYS FREE TIP:
14:40 Haydock OCEAN TEMPEST win bet at 3/1 Stan James.
