Usual busy Friday morning, newsletter and tips all done nice an early. I went with two selections that were priced up in the flying four. I was really strong on Blonde Razor who I think is the next star over 6 bends. Razor didn’t let me or subscribers down and again impressed me with his pace and trackcraft. Also went against Shaneboy Ozzy again (when will I learn) with Borna Monty as my free tip. Ozzy put me in my place again landing a four timer. However the highlight of my night was the win of my friend Rudders dog Dower Matt who flew round winning a maiden in 23.80 (FTON). I met Rudders for a pre-meeting dinner after he drove down from his home in Manchester, he told me this was a good dog and trap 3 would really suit him tonight. Rudders backed him accordingly and he let the Essex crowd know it!
Scoured the Racing Post for a Saturday selection but I saw nothing that wetted my apatite!
So had a day off as such, which was quite nice, although I had a quick look at ante post price and the RPGTV Henlow card for tomorrow.
I’m always up early on Sunday mornings, but I made sure I was up in time to post my two selections to my clients before leaving for Ernie Gaskin’s kennels. I was pretty strong on there chances and Angus the dog agreed with me on them. After the kennel visit I took Mrs D out for a lovely spot of Sunday lunch before getting back in plenty of time to go to watch the Henlow card, which is fast becoming one of my favourite tracks. Both tips – Landing in the sprint and Blackrose Mia in the lucky last obliged. A good night at the office I slept very well.
Mondays are always quiet on the tipping front, I use it as a catch up day and it’s Betfan pay day. Made a few phone calls and watch the weeks videos. But I was mainly looking at the Newcastle Sky card for Tuesday working out our ante post portfolios and whether we needed to add anything. I sent out an email to clients with some extra advice. I wasn’t finished for the day as I managed to squeeze in a trip to my local bookies to watch the open race action from Nottingham and Romford. You can’t watch enough racing.
Tuesday was all about Newcastle festival and some top class competitive races. We had most of the big races covered. I had two fancies for the supporting card but only put one up running in the sprint. I have probably said before but I’m not really a fan of sprints but I thought Jameriah Dubai was different class to his opponents. But if you don’t trap you don’t win in sprint races. The winner who won well in a fast time and is a brother to my Romford graded bitch Dear Holly, who we might try sprinting now, as she has excellent early. The highlight of the night was the win of Redbrick Stuart in the Northern Puppy Derby advised ante post @14/1. We also landed the Angel of the North with Butts Mott. Overall on the whole night we made a small profit. It was a great nights racing.
Wednesday up early busy with the electrician working on my office. Had a look at the action the night before only fancied one dog but not strong enough to put it up as a selection. You guessed it – it won. Never mind onwards and upwards – my service was reviewed by cash-master.com and I received a glowing report. I’m now an approved service after there three month review. Went to bed a happy chappie!
Puppy to put in your notebooks – Droopys Alfred who hosed up in a good A2 in 24.21 (FTON) this April 12 will go onto better things.
Up early again Thursday the electrician was back finishing off a few bits, I posted early two selections I thought were value. Late afternoon Angus the dog my Henlow expert called me with three strong graded fancies and marked my card for Sundays opens. Angus was spot on as the song goes ‘two out of three ain’t bad’ with the two he was strongest on winning. However my Hove selection ran well in second but was beaten fair & square and my Henlow selection was never at the races. ‘That’s life’
Free tip time and as usual we go over to Romford for it. I was tempted to side with Shaneboy Ozzy tonight after going against him recently as he landed a four timer last week. I was promptly told on Sunday by the owner Alan Roberts to tip against him again so Ozzy would make it a five timer. So we will swerve Ozzy and side with the dog that really impressed me greatly recently Mark Wallis Blonde Razor. This is a corker of a 575 contest with Rio Torino and Sidelight who are also in flying form. But I was always told by a very good judge – ‘trust your eyes son’
