Andy Bell’s Racing Diary

May 30, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

Sunday 24th. Sunday morning and no we’re not top of the tree with these new so called Super services that keep appearing and we are never likely to be again, well not until they disappear as quickly as they appear anyway, but we have a very healthy profit, which I can take pride from as I have grafted for all of it, of just under 20 points on my ANDY BELL’s service and a whooping 120 on my LATE CALL service.

We have three bets today RAILWAY DILLON in the Hunter Chase and two across the water the English raider POSTPONED and the Dermot Weld trained JOAILLIERE.

Not much happening today a quiet one watching the Grand Prix and the Cricket, I fancy us stuffing the Kiwi’s in this test after an appalling start.

POSTPONED just couldn’t quite make all and got just ran out of it in the final 100 yards and JOALLIERE showed her inexperience after only one run and finished out of the frame, so we give back a little of this months winnings, not much I hasten to add.

The LATE service nearly hit the jackpot again today as we backed SHOW ON THE ROAD ew at 13/2 And she drifted right out yo 11/1 and just failed to win and finished a clear second securing our ew monies, best odds guaranteed wins again.

Monday 25th. I watched the documentary on Winston Churchill last night although he won us the war he was a lad wasn’t he, I never realised how left wing he really was and what a tireless worker as well.

Still not quite top of the Betfan tree lol, but I’ll give these new services a run for their monies in June, mark my words,  I’m probably not going to improve a great deal on my LATE services performance of 120 points profit this month, but as a form reader ANDY BELL will come into his own and I think they will come back to the field now live.

Thankfully I have most of my emails and selections sorted as I’m on the 9am train to London for the £120 million final and can you believe it British Rail has lifted their strike for us little old Canaries. I am catching the 9-07 and heading straight into Liverpool Street and then on the underground and meeting up with a load of boys about a mile from the ground. The train could have been sponsored by our local brewery Greene King as it was just a sea of tinnies although I must say Lager was way out in front if a head count was actually taken. It was pretty somber for most of the journey as most of the excitement was expectancy although the noise levels were most defiantly rising in conjunction with the pile of tinnies. By the time we rocked up at Chelmsford it was standing room only and it was literally a sea of green and yellow. I must say the behavior was implicit for most of the journey although the queue to the toilets was now starting to grow much like Grumbling Dons losses heheheh.

Anyway business as usual I can’t let my jollys totally get in the way of work as we have two selections today ROCK LOBSTER ew and SUBLIMATION who I am told should win but after his 180 day absence I decide to put him out as an ew maximum.

No rocket science for my flying LATE service clients as today I just have to put up a Sir Michael shorty. YARROW is 8/11 and after his gallop on Thursday that is ridiculous as he pushed a group horse all the way of the four furlong gallop and as I say in my email he is a 1/2 shot at least, fill you boots and max him.

I don’t often let racing take a back seat, well hardly ever, but today is different, how often do we the Canaries get to Wembley, 1985 I think was the last time and I was a wee snip and there. Although some things never change, I can remember the night before our last excursion we were all in the Hoxne Swan and having a right good go at it and I was always the youngest and could never drink with the big boys although I thought I could or I kidded myself anyway. As the nights grew older the flower pots grew moister as most of my drinks were poured cunningly into them, well as I thought. I now know that my movements may as well of been on a Sat nav as big brother saw everything, they never said anything at the time because it was much more fun watching me sneakily pour away my drinks than them seeing me passed out on the floor.
Anyway the dear Landlady (Francis) covered me up during the early hours and even woke me the next morning with sandwiches for the train, how come that never happens nowadays, must of been my sweet innocent smile.

Hopefully as we beat the Scum in the semi’s and met a Northern team in the finals in 85 and won, maybe history can repeat itself this year.

Norwich start like a team possessed and play absolutely fantastic football not letting the northerners get a look in and then bang Jerome bulges the back of the net bang in front of us and all of a sudden it’s mayhem, we have hardly drawn our breathes when Redmond scored a wonder goal and all of a sudden it’s Man U here we come. Well the rest is history and we never looked back from our 2-0 halftime score and beat Middlesborough at their own game, sitting back and come get us if your good enough. The after match scenes were incredible and we enjoyed every minute of it, good old Michael Foulger and Delia are now £120 million richer and we have premier football to look forward to next year. I may even go out of Michael’s box next year and leave the racing to watch some of the game, you never know. We head into the Capitol for a jolly up and I make sure I have a hotel booked as it’s a million to one that I will be on the train home tonight.

Tuesday 26th. What an amazing day yesterday and I wake amazingly early considering the circumstances, we had a major party until the early hours in London and this morning I have to make the trip across the Capitol to Stansted airport. If I could remember what I got up to and I knew certain people were not reading this I would tell you, I will leave it to your vivid imaginations.

Oh yes I was gutted to see that SUBLIMATION was beaten by the narrowest of margins yesterday.

I catch the Stansted express this morning and hope that Gitty hasn’t purposely left my passport at home.

I arrive in plenty of time and just have to have a livener in Weatheroons to settle the shakes if nothing else. I now have seven days in the sun and sea and maybe a bar or two and hopefully the Greedy 1’s will be paying for it again.

Don’t you just love it when two passengers are missing and all the luggage has to be taken off the plane and it’s made even worse by the lager pushing on your bulging bladder for an hour. As you know I’m not the best of flyers and the wait in the smartie pot is torture. Finally we get away and it takes a further hour until I can get a drink so not the perfect of starts. Thankfully the flight is good and soon passes.

My first day on the Rock and no I don’t mean Alcatraz either, Malta and we have two very strong bets, which I am personally having a right good swing at. The first one is a very strong ew bet at Cartmel which Steve is all over. FORGE VALLEY is trading at 16/1 in the Hunter Chase. I have all my odds2 punters on it and put him up as a maximum ew bet and urge everybody to fill their boots with the 16s as I know he is going to be well punted.  Also Hughsey rides EXCHEQUER at Kempton tonight and I’m told it’s also very well fancied so I also put him up as a maximum ew and also suggest taking the 9/2 because he is also going to be backed.

As soon as we land I turn on my mobile it’s buzzing like a rabbit and I know we were desperately unluckily with our 16/1 Hunter leading all the way and trading odds on in running just to get caught near the line and that Hughsey went one better winning at a very well backed 11/4, so it’s welcome Malta and up yours greedy 1’s.

After the habitual greeting in Rabat of home made wine I pick up my jeep and head to our apartment and may the chill begin.

Wednesday 27th. Oi oi great first days punting in Malta with a 9/2 winner and gosh how close were we to pulling off the 16/1 winner trading at odds on in running and just getting caught very close to the line. Nevertheless we made nearly 20 points profit on the day and with a bit of luck it could do easily been over 50.

We head into Rabat this morning as I can get the Internet at Vince’s bar or the Sunday bar and with the sun shining and a Cisk xl I can start my days form. With all the horses sorted I can now go out for my fishing trip. We pop in another winner today so all is going really well and that’s the holiday paid for, thanks Joe and if our Easterby one wins tomorrow it’s July paid for as well and than if our maximum at Stratford wins Friday night well I don’t know but one thing I can guarantee is it won’t gather any dust.

Thursday 28th. Yesterday we caught eight lovely Rock Fish they are as ugly as hell to look at but fantastic to eat a lobster and two octopuses. We will eat all these for sure in the next few days.

Steve calls me early I know it’s early as I’ve only had one beer lol with a bet at Wetherby tonight in the Hunter Chaser. DROM is trading at 7/4 and we think he is a good bet, well ok the connections do. I email him out and I also add the Michael Easterby trained MULTELLIE ew at 4/1. The sun must of gone to my head or more likely the XL as I realise I have also put it up on my LATE service, so it’s double bubble or double prat later on now. Also on the LATE service I put up DIRECT TIMES win only at 5/2.

It’s really hot today, don’t get me wrong I’m not complaining as I love the heat and I can stick it all day long, these cold holidays don’t do anything for me whatsoever.

Once again we have rocked up at Vince’s, the added bonus is we enjoy local rates and not tourist rates. We can sit and drink for most of the day for twenty euros and with the exchange rate so good €1-38 we got, it’s for nothing.

Another great thing is the time here is one hour in front so that gives me plenty of time to get my selections sorted, it’s a right pain when it’s the other way as it always seem so rushed.

Not the greatest of starts as DIRECT TIMES is just beaten into second at a very well back 7/4. It’s chump or champ time now and thankfully for everybody me included it champ time as MULTIELLE wins very nicely at 7/2, which is a right result for a cockup as you know I put him up by mistake on both my services hehehe oi oi.

If DROM can win later tonight it will be another super winning day making it four on the trot.

We don’t venture far tonight as we all OD last night on the homemade Maltese wine which is very Moreish and extremely strong. So it’s a nice local Rabbit meal a couple of swifties and bed.

Friday 29th. Oi oi come on DROM you beauty another cracking day yesterday two out of two on ANDY BELL making another twenty points profit and a nice winner and winning day on the LATE service as well. If the winners keep coming as they are at the moment I may stay here for another couple of weeks. Things didn’t exactly go to plan last night, well when is my life ever normal, my Maltese brother Ian and Grat rocked up and the beer started to flow freely! Luckily he had to work today so we still turned in relatively early. When your lucks in everything goes well, we knew the young lad working behind the bar in the hotel and he slipped us a couple of all inclusive wrist bands, so that’s us sorted for beer for the rest of our stay.

As promised it’s max, max time at Stratford tonight and we need to be getting on early as the price will be disappearing as quickly as Simon Holden does when it’s his round.

If it’s happening I’m putting it on my LATE service as the rain may scupper things and as we know the ground beats anything.

It’s the big wedding tomorrow, note to myself make sure my Simon Holden boss labels are off my new suits sleeves hehehe.

Weddings in Malta are a huge occasion with half the villages turning out and it’s always in a fantastic setting afterwards and the drinks and canopies just never stop coming round.

Tonight we are invited out to enjoy a suckling pig, the Maltese have this well sorted as they take it to the bakers and put it in the bread ovens for cooking and it makes fantastic crackling.

The time is now right to come back under Belly Boys betting wing as we have some great racing on the horizon, maybe I will get the Royal Ascot special again this year after such a fantastic time last year, where I think we hit something ridiculous like eight or nine winners didn’t we?? June is always a very busy month for us and July don’t  get any quieter either, then we have Glorious Goodwood and not forgetting the Ebor very exciting times coming, my favourite times of the year are upon us again.

It’s goodbye from us in Rabat and goodbye from him.

Back next Saturday.
