The second day of Irish Champions Weekend takes place at the Curragh and the racing should be dominated by Aiden’ O’Brien. Things didn’t go to plan for him at Leopardstown yesterday but Gustav Klimt and Order Of St George should do the business for the stable today.
Gustav Klimt looks hard to beat on ratings and no other horse entered has produced anything like the form as a two-year-old. The horse won over course and distance in July and the stable believe he is a horse with great potential who should deliver today.
Order Of St George won today’s race, the Irish St Leger, in 2015 and was second last year. The 2016 Ascot Gold Cup winner is proven over the distance and on ratings is the horse to beat.
Both horses are clear form picks but at prohibitive odds for singles but the double pays over 11/8 with bet365. Winter and Churchill both lost yesterday at around even money but O’Brien can get his season back on track with this double today.
The live Premier League football fare is ordinary today and it’s about relegation issues and not winning the Premier League or qualifying for the Champions League. Crystal Palace have no points after three matches and that situation could not change as Burnley are fancied to beat Palace at home today:
The fixture between Swansea and Newcastle is too hard to call and my Sunday Special is the O’Brien double in Ireland today.
