Simon Holden Racing Club

January 14, 2017 By admin Leave a Comment

To think I thought this would be a quiet week in racing only to awake to the shattering and quite frankly sickening news that the Jockey Club the custodians of racings welfare (there’s a laugh) were flogging off Kempton Park for housing.

Yes you read that right folks Kempton the home of the King George is deemed surplus to requirements, what next Cheltenham sold off to a lap dancing club (not that I would know whether they have any there). It is simply the most stupid decision in the history of the Jockey Club and that would be some accolade.

Before anyone says anything I know nobody attends the all weather meetings but they should never have put down the stupid thing anyway. Only the Tartan Tipster (who cares what he thinks) and a few other clowns actually think all weather racing is the way forward. Kempton should be developed as a standalone Jumps track and marketed properly. London is a huge catchment area for jumps racing and can accommodate Ascot, Sandown and Kempton if they put on quality cards without the need for All Weather rubbish.

Right Today Warwick a very successful racecourse who turned itself into an all year round jumps track (you see Kempton) stage their big day and their marathon race The Betfred Classic at 3.35.three miles five furlongs on Winter ground is going to take some getting. This race will take so long to finish at least three of the jockeys are taking a packed lunch and will be one for the grinders.

Jonjo the old rascal runs Spookydooky who ran an absolute stinker last time out so how can I fancy it strongly today you ask? Well I’m not too concerned with this outfit when this happens but what I will say is under the right conditions this is a very capable stayer who ran a stormer in last years Midlands National. A recreation of that run will win this and as he is 16/1 with Betway largely because of that last time flop, I’m lumping on each way. There are four places on offer so this is super value.

My Racing Club is starting 2017 as it finished 2016 by giving winners and showing a good profit on the month. If you want 2017 to be the year you take control of the Bookmaker not the other way round then you know where to come, you will be very welcome.

Have a great weekend and as the great former BetFan Saturday Columnist Devilfish used to say “May all your losing runs be brief ones.”
