Another incredible Festival is over and for sheer drama surely nothing matches my hangover!
On the racing front it was very exciting too with the flying start by Gordon Elliot (how was he ever a jockey?) followed by the fight back from Mullins and Walsh who were on the canvas. Which all leads to one big question that is does anybody in England train horses?
We were beaten up by the Irish, talk about rubbing it in when yesterday Mr Ryan air announced he had won with the worst horse he has ever owned in the Martin Pipe Conditional and that he wasn’t interested in handicaps. Ok can’t you just think it! Smug doesn’t come into it.
Elliot won top trainer yesterday after Mullins gave him the fright of his life and these two will be fighting out many more battles here they just seem to have the best horses by a mile. Their powerhouse owners will make sure they win the battles for the best jumps prospects and everyone else is in big trouble.
Paul Nicholls won the Foxhunters yesterday, file under big deal, because he is our Champion Trainer and his attempts to battle Mullins and Elliott were laughable. Nicky Henderson offered some resistance for the home team including the one two in the RSA with the most bizarre finish in Cheltenham history as Mightbyte stopped on the run in and took off again. If he gets his head right he will make them all go in next years Gold Cup.
Sizing John was crowned Gold Cup winner on a fast ground and nothing behind him has any hard luck stories. He will be a real force for a few years to come. Lets please hope Cue Card is retired it was horrible to see him fall again in a sickening manner. He has been a legend and has nothing to prove
Racing and the Simon Holden Racing Club move on and the winners continue. Today the show moves to Uttoxeter and a brilliant meeting for the Midlands National. There will be a huge crowd including plenty of Irish people in no hurry to go home. And they could well be having another party as Mad Brian looks to have a massive chance of winning the big race. I’ve been left under no illusions how well fancied this is. He was fourth in a big National trial before having a spin over hurdles to warm up for this which he won easily. Back him each way @ 12/1 to land a huge touch.
I have another bet today which is a max bet that you do not want to miss. Over 60 points up already this month and ready to push on towards Aintree. Get with the Racing Club that delivers!
Have a great weekend lets get behind Mad Brian and land another big gamble, remember join me and get todays max win bet.
Back next Saturday.
