A plethora of good racing abounds on Saturday but Haydock takes my attention as it’s one of the big days of the year the BET365 Old Newton Cup.
Haydock has become one of the best places in the North to go racing and today will be rammed with racegoers looking for whatever every racegoers looks for more money than they arrived with. A days racing is perhaps the only day out where you can go home with more than you arrived with or of course much less.
The Old Newton Cup is one of the great handicaps and has attracted the usual field of top handicappers which of course leaves us with the usual puzzle of picking the winner.
Big Country has been one of the handicap success stories of the season and is rightly the favourite but I’m not sure this is the right race for him on this tight track so we will pass on him though he has a big race in him.
Borocco seems to always be the subject of a major gamble but the bad bit is he never seems to win so we will pass over him. One horse who I believe is well weighted and ready to win a biggie is Carntop trained by Ralph Beckett @ 12/1 with Bet365 with 4 places and that looks an excellent bet. Beckett is a master at bringing about improvement in horses and Carntop has improved steadily with every run this year.
A fast pace on a tight track is perfect for this horse and that’s what todays race is highly likely to produce so he has to be the selection.
The Simon Holden Racing Club has one aim to make its customers significant profits betting on racing and its become very good at it. We have major festivals and lots of big races to come this Summer and you can be part of it.
Back next Saturday,
