It’s Derby Day and though Epsom is a fairly ludicrous place to have a racecourse this place has a magic that nowhere else can lay claim to.
The Fairground, the open top buses, the pickpockets and for once I don’t mean the Bookmakers are all out in force.
But what of the great race it’s certainly the most wide open Derby in history and every horse is drifting further than the Kontiki. Aiden runs about 78 but there’s no confidence in the Us Army Ranger who won the Chester Vase but if he’s a Derby winner I’m a Dutchman. His stable mate had to wave him by to win. Joint fave Wings of Desire won the Dante but he won’t like this track and is more of a Leger type.
French horse Cloth of Stars lacks the class for me so I’m backing Moonlight Magic at 14/1 with Hills. He has been overlooked but he was hugely impressive in his trial and if he was trained at Ballydoyle he would be a third of the price. Don’t worry his Trainer will have him spot on.
So this Derby Day… give me the moonlight!
No hype needed my new Racing Club is flying. Join me and bet on the right horses in the right race.
Back next Saturday.
Impressive post…. Thank you for sharing this with us.
