The Ryder Cup is off and running and the United States have made the better start but there is very little in it. The US have now won the Cup away from home since 1993 and Tiger Woods has only been in a winning team in 1999. The visitors are the league leaders but are weakened by some key absentees especially in the final third. Wednesday welcome their local rivals on the back of beating Aston Villa away from home. Leeds are the only ream in the Championship who have avoided defeat on the road. The hosts defence should cope with the Leeds second string up front so the value lies in backing SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY at 5/2 with bet365.
It’s the second day of the Cambridgeshire meeting at Newmarket and the card features two Group 2 races and one Group 3 contest. The Shadwell Joel Stakes (3.35) is at the second level and it’s a mile race for horses aged three and older. The older horses carry a four pounds penalty and that could be crucial in the final outcome. Regal Reality is the only three-year-old in the five runner field. The horse has only raced four times but is progressive. The form of a Group 3 win at Goodwood has worked out well and four pounds is a handy allowance. In a tight contest REGAL REALITY can win this race and that outcome is 11/4 with Ladbrokes.
