More Strife For Monsieur Wenger Tonight
Last week’s Premier League match between Arsenal and Chelsea at the Emirates was one of the best of the season to date. All the stats were over the average including goals and corners. The teams win more than their fare share of corners but are generally only average scorers but Chelsea are much more efficient at the back. These trends have been established in one-off league fixtures so its debatable how relevant they are for tonight’s first leg in their semi-final tie in the EFL Cup in which Chelsea are playing at home. The objective is to qualify for the final and that can still be achieved with a draw or defeat in the first match. Bristol City can still qualify despite an agonising 2-1 defeat at Manchester City in a match they deserved to draw.
Arsenal have a poor away record for a team that are sixth in the Premier League and have reached the last four of the secondary Cup competition in England. Their dramatic loss at Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup last Saturday means they have only won 5 times in 15 matches on the road. In his pomp Arsene Wenger was pitting his wits against the best in the Champions League and the FA Cup was his safety valve. It’s now the Europa League and EFL Cup that are in his thoughts. How have the mighty fallen and it could get worse tonight because CHELSEA are the team to back at 3/4 with William Hill in the meeting at Stamford Bridge.
There are no humiliating cricket matches for England against Australia this week but the respite is only short because they meet in a One Day International early on Sunday morning. Cricketers love a punt on the horses and today they can have a bet at a jumps meeting at Ludlow and on the All Weather at Lingfield and Kempton. Ludlow is a great track to visit but it’s annoying that the train whizzes past the course into the station in the town centre then you have to make your way back to the track. It could be all worth it today if you get to the course in time for the first race at 12.50pm. It’s a short price but ZALVADOS is a great betting opportunity for punters at the course and bored cricketers in Australia but you won’t get rich at 1/2 with Ladbrokes.
