Derby Can Take Chelsea Beyond 90 Minutes
Tonight’s fourth round tie in the EFL Cup at Stamford Bridge between Chelsea and Derby is not just about Frank Lampard. The former Blues stalwart may briefly head to the home dressing room but he is bringing a side to London full of confidence and players who are buying into his ideas. Lampard returns to his former club for the first time in a professional capacity and the crowd should give him a warm welcome. The Chelsea legend’s old club have not lost in 14 matches this season.
The Chelsea supporters may not be feeling so generous at the end of 90 minutes because Derby can extend the tie. Chelsea are unbeaten in the Premier League and Derby are a team in form. Ability might tell in the end but Derby are good enough to secure a DRAW after 90 minutes which is 5/1 with Betfair. Derby have scored in 9 of their 11 away games in all competitions this season.
There are three more ties in the EFL Cup tonight and the most intriguing one is between West Ham and Tottenham at the former Olympic Stadium. The home team have found their feet under Manuel Pellegrini but something is not right at the club who have not moved into their new stadium. Tottenham spent very little in the summer and their home matches are being played on a Wembley pitch that is also staging NFL matches. Real Madrid are looking for a new manager and Spurs boss MAURICIO POCHETTINO has been backed and he is now 5/2 with Ladbrokes to be the next manager at the Bernabeu.
The big jumps racing news is that Samcro will stay over hurdles and has now deposed two-time winner Buveur D’Air as the favourite for the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham next March. Roaring Lion has got a bad draw so has drifted in the betting for the Breeders’ Cup Classic. We are talking brilliant race horses and in comparison its much inferior animals running at Nottingham today. MOYASSAR has the form and rating to win the richest race at 2.10. The horse is the banker in the nursery handicap over five furlongs and is 6/4 with bet365 to win the race.
