Today’s Sports Betting Preview – By Rick Elliott

England Can Beat New Zealand In The 1st Test

It’s an international break for football so there are no major matches in the Champions League or Premier League this week so today’s main betting action is the start of the 1st Test between New Zealand and England in Auckland. There have been 18 Tests series between the sides in New Zealand and England have lost just one. They have only lost four of the 47 Tests in New Zealand.

Despite being embarrassed by Australia in the fight for the Ashes England can avoid another series loss. However, there are only two five day matches so the logical bet is the DRAW at 5/2. Ben Stokes is back and James Anderson should have ideal conditions under lights for his bowling so ENGLAND are the team to back to win the opener at 11/8 with William Hill.

If you are desperate for a football betting interest on a live TV match you can get stuck in to the National League fixture in which Barrow host Hartlepool. The match is right at the lower end of the glamour spectrum and hardly Manchester City v Liverpool in the Champions League. It’s a fixture between two strugglers in the fifth tier and the most pertinent fact is that Barrow have not managed to win in eight matches at home. HARTLEPOOL are the bet at 11/4 with Ladbrokes.

The Lincoln is the first leg of the Spring Double that is completed by the Grand National. The two races are poles apart but one jockey has won both but that was many years ago. It seems bizarre that the same rider can win a one mile Flat handicap and the longest race in the National Hunt calendar. There is a mixture of jumps and All-Weather racing in Britain today but the most lucrative meeting is at Limerick in Ireland. The richest race is a mares’ novices’ chase at 4.15 in which DINARIA DES OBEAUX is the horse to back at 8/13 with Betfair.
