Spieth Takes Control Of The Masters
By about nine o’clock this evening the US Masters could be all but decided because by then Jordan Spieth will have finished his second round. He has a two shot lead after the first day and is an early starter in the second round. If he replicates his opening score of 66 the afternoon batch of starters could be looking at a deficit of about eight shots. Spieth has played in the US Masters four times and his worst effort is joint 11th. At his best he is the best player in the world around Augusta National and even at much lower odds than before the Masters began SPIETH is the in-play bet at 2/1 with Ladbrokes. Rory McIlroy is three shots off the pace.
The four homes in the Europa League last night paid 9/2. They all looked good things and were odd-on but usually the bookmakers get one of the bankers beat. Across many leagues home teams win about 40% of fixtures and Cardiff can beat Wolves tonight on their own pitch in the televised match in the Championship. Both teams have scored in Cardiff’s last five matches so the bet is a scoring win for the home side. We are talking 2-1, 3-2, 3-1 or similar so that equates to over 2.5 goals. This is a match-up between the top two and goals look on the cards. The recommendation is to back CARDIFF AND BTTS at 11/2 with William Hill.
The wet weather has relented so there is a packed programme of fixtures today though Wetherby was lost. They race on the All-Weather at Lingfield and Chelmsford and Dundalk in Ireland and there’s a jumps fixture at Fontwell. The Irish meeting is the most lucrative but even then the seven races only offer £86,000 in prize money. Some good horses have raced at Dundalk on Friday night, using the track as a stepping stone to greater things. There are five handicaps on the card and the opening maiden but the best race is at 7pm. ANDESH has won over course and distance and has left a good impression so is the racing bet of the day at 7/4 with Betfair.
