Andy Bell’s Racing Diary

December 22, 2013 By admin Leave a Comment

A crucial week, with Christmas looming.

Monday 16th. As I said yesterday I thought I might struggle to beat last weeks freebie, but I didn’t envisage a plethora of non runners scuppering our chances with 5 in total in-between me putting my selection up at 13/2 ew on my column and at time of publishing when it was a crazy 6/4. Although it did come 3rd at 9/2 we now had less than the 8 runners, so no good.

Better news for all my ever growing band of my merry members, was that they all had a really nice winner, which I had put out at 8pm Saturday night.

Going through the form Saturday evening I thought the 11/4 was too bigger price on KAKI DE LA PREE following its good 2nd to the Saturday Cheltenham run away, 14 length winner, KINGS PALACE.

With a line through KINGS PALACE, I thought that a mark of 127 on KAKI was very fair and with the ground holding no fears, it was a great punt and I backed him and via our e mail system, I advised all my members to do likewise.

Luckily, I was dragging my heals at home as I had a day planned which I wasn’t to keen on, as all hell was let loose in BETFAN towers, god forbid, my column and free tip had not been received, for some unknown reason, maybe the Greedy 1s had corrupted the systems and BETFAN was on the verge of the pearly gates being smashed down by my millions of followers.

After a bit of huffing and puffing it was finally sorted.

Luckily KAKI DE LA PREE is a good remedy for my “pissed off-ness” and wins nicely at an incredible price of 3/1 and we have quickly racked up another 12 points profit on to our ever growing December profits.

Although I am gagging at the bit this morning to increase our profits and lead at the top of the table, I can unfortunately not find anything worthy of our hard earned, so lets have a well earned day off and ready ourselves for the small fields at Fakenham tomorrow.

Tuesday 17th. With the Fakenham card not looking over inspiring I consider not going, but for once its a lovely sunny day and for once Fakenham will not live up to its billing of being the coldest course in the country. We have racked up another two winning days on the trot so lets hope Fakenham will be kind to us today.

LILAC BELLE off bottom weight looks dangerous and at 13/2 looks a decent ew bet.

CAROBELLO is ridden by Nico today and he has been schooling this at home and is confident of following up its last win with another today, so I e mail out that we need to take the 11/4 and place a win bet.

Another early start today and Mr Jolly is up for a days racing, so I pick him up at 10-30 as Fakenham is a crap journey, basically cart tracks all the way so we need to leave in lots of time.

LILAC BELLE is never travelling and is the first one beat so not the ideal start and when Nico crashes off CAROBELLO I am really pleased I have made the effort and came.

I am not always the most compassionate person when a horse falls, but when CAROBELLO stops right in front of me near the first fence, I am shocked to see the poor thing has a stick that has gone right through its muscle and is sticking out of either side like an arrow. Which makes my £600 loss on him suddenly seem a little insignificant.

Not a good day at the office and we endure a losing day.

Dunston Hall beckons on the way home (remember that’s where Simon Holden is having his Christmas due) a steak and a nice bottle of the red stuff and all of a sudden the losing day doesn’t seem so bad and tomorrow is another day.

Wednesday 18th. I week today we will all be opening our pressys and getting ready to over indulge ourselves. I love Christmas lots of food and drink and this year we have 3 days with no racing, Monday, Tuesday and obviously Christmas day.

I think I have the winner of the King George on Boxing day.

Today we have a big word for BOBCATBILLY at 5/2 running at Ludlow. In the rearranged Kempton race, I have a dilemma because at Huntingdon last week George Baker said he really fancied his and this morning I am told that TROOPINGTHECOLOUR is also very well fancied. I side with TROOPINGTHECOLOUR as over course and distance he did a quicker time by over 3 seconds.

All my e mails sent out and with some time on my hands, I decide to have a look at Saturdays Ladbroke Hurdle to see weather we can see if anything stands out.

BOBCATBILLY looks like winning coming to the last but is just ran out of it in the final 1/2 furlong. Of course TROOPINGTHECOLOUR loses and yes, what beats it, George Bakers, so annoying a 9/2 winner escapes our clutches.

Thursday 19th. A meeting with the boys at our local is on the cards today, so anything could happen later. The racing is very poor today and the only information that has come in is the new recruit to the Alan McCabe ranks THE GREAT GABRIAL, which I have been told is going to be kicked out in front and try to run the finish out of the rest.

We all meet at midday in Weatherspoons and it’s Guinness which is on the menu today. With corals just across the road we are well set for the day. We pop in and back GABRIAL ew at a great price of 12/1 and turning for home he is bolting along in the lead and I’m thinking we have all copped a nice one here. Unfortunately he doesn’t quite last home and just gets ran out of a place.

Nothing really happens apart from far to much alcohol is consumed and we upset two of the waitresses, which is par for the course.

Friday 20th. Hangover city this morning and I am thankful that once again I am not away racing today.

It’s very very quiet this morning and I am really struggling to put anything up. As I say in my 11am e mail I have been told that CYRIEN STAR is a very poor price at Even money and it needs to be laid.

I commit the cardinal sin and pop into the local town to do some shopping and decide just to have a livener in the Swan Hotel. When I see Hilts is in there and shortly after Chappy arrives, I know I am on a slippery slope. Things don’t get any better as Tony the Machine and Cabbage Paul arrive with the same idea as me “a quick livener.”

I have laid CYRIEN STAR for far to much at Even money and am not in a position to put a lay up in running, so I have to bite the bullet. Cabbage, the Machine and most of the Swan have backed around it. CYRIEN STAR is awful and never looks like winning and is soon tailed of and pulled up. All the boys have cleared up and I am glad I couldn’t do a saviour and once again the black nectar is freely flowing.

My Gardener arrives to pick me up, but nobody is in the mind to leave, but fortunately my 1 remaining brain cell kicks into action and reminds me I have Ascot tomorrow, so I drag myself away to the delight of my red hot credit card.

Saturday 21st. I am so pleased that Geoffrey dragged me away from the Swan last night, don’t think I will ever learn. Ascot is another early start, so I am leaving at 10ish as to insure I don’t miss the 1st race.

I am told that BABYMIX wont get a place today, so at 3/1, I lay this for the win and I also lay odds on that it won’t get a place.

Venetia Williams is very sweet on the chances of her HOUBLON DES OBEAUX and at 7/2 I am told to make sure we all take this as it will shorten dramatically..

I also put up PADDYS SALTANTES under Adam Kirby at Lingfield ew at 4/1.

Ascot is quieter than I can remember in past years and I am sure a lot of the bookmakers are also missing. In my opinion the bookmakers have made a rod for their own backs by being over greedy and allowing the exchanges to take over. Also if there was ever a power cut most of the books would be unable to form a market, without the exchanges and are certainly not brave enough to take them on.

The old Grumbling Don has crept out of Newmarket and I spot him lurking near the paddock, surprisingly without his hohoho Santa’s hat.

BABY MIX sets a good gallop and is actually trading as fav at one point, but ultimately blows out and trails in unplaced, so a really nice winning start. Even better to come as HOUBLON really puts his head down and battles like a demon and wins at a very well backed 6/4. Ascot has been really kind to us today and we have absolutely cleaned up, which is always lovely just before the old festive period.

Even Adam Kirby can’t get Paddys home, although this is also smashed up in the betting from our 4/1 into 2/1fav.

In summary a pleasant drive home as we have made over 20 points profit + our lay on BABYMIX.

Sunday 22nd. A really nice winning Saturday again yesterday and after this, this is my last diary to appear on a Sunday, as its now being moved to Saturday to accommodate the much better racing and the FREE tips will be more forth coming than on Sunday’s which can be poor racing.

TODAYS FREE TIP 2-30 Lingfield NASSAU STORM 7/2 standout price with Ladbrokes.

All my members please don’t forget we hopefully have a MAXIMUM bet on the Hunter Chase circuit on the 27th and I think I have the King George sorted for us on Boxing Day. (Not Cue Card).

I hope you have all been satisfied with my tipping prowess this year as I only joined BETFAN 6 months ago and we have quickly amassed over 225 points profit in that short period. I hope the diary has gone down well as I really enjoy doing it and it keeps a lot of others on their toes when they are now in my company heheheh.

Have a lovely Christmas and thank you for being not only my loyal members but also BETFANS.

Get pissed, eat too much but more importantly keep safe.

Back next SATURDAY
