Update…
The church for Kens funeral was at capacity, with standing room only. After a very nice church service we retired to The Lenwade House for drinks and eats, which was also packed. It was nice to catch up with a few of the now retired Jockeys, Alan McKay, Joey Brown, Gary Bardwell just to mention a few. John Ryan was still on a high after his amazing Lincoln win and Geoff Huffer was still drinking away the proceeds of Cockney Rebels achievements. Both John Walk ex Ipswich and Robert Fleck ex Norwich still looked as young as ever. Even the Jockeys agents found time and made a show, Paul and Gareth.
After far to many wines and hugs, the flock starts to disperse and we also bid our farewell’s and head for home.
Just What The Doctor Ordered.
Saturday 5th. As my column has already been completed on Thursday evening and the Grand National Free tip submitted, the pressure is relatively off this morning. Reality really hits home as I delete all Kens contact numbers off my mobile phone, that now seems very final.
PINEAU DE RE first 6 places is my Grand National free tip at 28/1, I know the Doctors stable have all backed this and are confident of a huge run.
I feel like crap this morning and with all my work complete the only remedy is a livener. I head into town and meet up with Tony the Machine and quickly neck a couple. I head across the road and have a cash top up on PINEAU, but Corals the meanest of bookies are only offering 25/1, as I have asked my bettors to get me on earlier in the week and they are all full up, I have to accept the 25/1 and have another decent ew bet.
My mobile is red hot this morning as everyone wants a National tip, numbers I don’t even recognise are calling and numerous shouts across the street. I could easily look a right chump if this goes tits up, don’t people realise this is probably the hardest race of the year to get right.
It does sicken me that the people are queuing onto the street to get their bets on in Corals and are being mugged off by being given a lesser price and it’s half of my drinking pals or ex pals later, from Weatherspoons responsible.
Tony and I shoot a few games of pool in the Bear to kill some time as I am getting very nervous and twitchy by now.
We decide to get closer to home to watch the bigun, maybe a big contributing factor to this decision is I’ve marked so many peoples cards a public flogging may be called for.
We arrive at the Tuns pre race and by now the reality of how much I have tendered on the race is beginning to hit home, the beer isn’t helping either. Luckily enough I have arrived too late and all the National bets in the pub have already been laid and I am able to slip under the radar.
Obviously you have all seen the race so no need to talk you through it, but when Leighton Aspel is close up two out, I can’t hold my emotions in any more and start screaming at the flat screen, after 4 miles PINEAU DE RE is apparently still swinging off the bridle and puts in another great jump at the last to win nice and cosily by 5 lengths. As they pass the post Leighton is certainly cooler than I am, as the Tuns has just had a whirl wind hit it. As all the pubs losing tickets are hitting the floor, my twenty’s are hitting the bar for bubbly all round. After the lucky seven bottles, well so I am told, I am dancing on the tables and surely being a right pain. 6pm and Cabbage arrives and is about four levels below us on the booze stakes. After being refused any more drinks in the Tuns we stagger across the road to the Swan, where we get the same result, no more drinks, thank goodness for Tony the Machine as he takes the lead and sorts me a lift home.
Sunday 6th. As soon as I wake, my mobile phone is paramount and I can’t find it. After an agonising hour, it’s hid with my monies on top of the cupboard, I don’t know why, but every time I’m drunk I hide my monies. I am desperate to check what texts I sent out with what monies I have bet on them and making sure they have all been confirmed. All is cool, as all my bets were placed and confirmed. It’s nice reading the 51 texts of thanks I have and with all the people I have told in Weatherspoons and also ALL YOU 30,000 on my free tip and of course mine and the families, I wonder how much I have taken out of the betting industry, 1 million????
Now the major job of moving this Dr Newland induced hangover.
Steve is buoyant as well this morning as he got given and backed PINEAU earlier in the week. He has the Irish trained MARTELLO TOWER at Fairyhouse this afternoon and has been told this will lead and is not expected to get caught. As I am a tad under the weather today, I bet this myself and email out to my clients.
No going out or Sunday lunch today, I think a quiet one is in order in an attempt to rebuild the alcohol damaged brain cells from yesterday.
MARTELLO TOWER is in fact kicked out in front and never looks like getting caught, so a great end to a perfect money making weekend.
Monday 7th. A stunning weekend and we have all copped a right nice few quid and ANDY BELL and THE LATE BETTING service are both on the BETFAN leader table.
Frankie rides the very well regarded Richard Hannon inmate TREE OF GRACE at Windsor this afternoon, the last run should have taken away the fizziness and a win is on the cards.
Also I have tissued up SEALOUS SCOUT at 5/2 and I am amazed he is trading at 5/1. I make a call as we have been getting some great Donald McCain info at the moment and my thoughts are confirmed, he is thought to be a brilliant ew bet at 5/1. knowing this I have to put him up as a bet to nothing ew and on the same email I advise backing TREE OF GRACE.
Not wishing the LATE INFORMATION BETTING boys and girls to be left out, when I get a call about what TOBACCO ROAD has been doing at home, I have no hesitation whatsoever in putting him in an email as a ew bet and advising to take the 13/2.
A trip today to our small local independent bookmakers and then to Corals to pick up my Saturdays winnings. Without being rude, I do hope I don’t meet any of the people I put onto PINEAU Saturday and get dragged into Weatherspoons as I really don’t want any alcohol today. As I enter the local I get thanked for ruining his big day of the year as it had somehow got round the whole town and nearly everybody had backed it. Good I’m “thinking” up yours, if you weren’t so greedy you could of laid it off at over 36/1 on Betfair, but I do keep my thoughts firmly to myself, as he is not a happy chappy.
Luckily the trip to Corals goes without incident and I collect and sneak out, without being accosted or dragged into the boozer.
TREE OF GRACE ran a poor race and was more awkward than smelly Frank was in the Tuns Saturday when refusing to serve me any more alcohol. The jury is now out on TREE OF GRACE to whether we back him any more, I need hear there was a problem before I reinvest.
No such problems with SEALOUS SCOUT as he bolts in and I told you the 5/1 was a cracking price as he wins hard held at 7/4.
Ryan Moore knowing TABACCO ROAD will go on the soft and makes his mind up for him at the start and kicks him in the belly and he never sees another rival and leads all the way and wins nicely by just under 2 lengths, also our 13/2 looks good as he wins at a well backed 5/1.
Another cracking day on both services with a 5/1 winner on ANDY BELL and an even better 13/2 winner on LATE BETTING SERVICE.
Tuesday 8th. All my clients prospered yesterday, with a really good winning day. We have loads coming through this morning and I have got to decipher, how, what and where we are going to place and bet them.
CALCULATED RISK in what looks a very short price of 2/1 in a big field, comes through very strongly ridden by Ryan Moore. On looking at the race in detail as it often is, there is a lot of dead wood and in my opinion over half the field can’t win.
In a smaller field LIBACCIO is being touted out as he has been working really well at home and is expected to make a winning reappearance at 15/8.
Finally the recently moved HARMOODY at 9/4, who is having his first run for Joseph Tuite after leaving Dandy Nichols, is going to be ridden up with the pace and kick for home coming round the bend, that is the plan anyway.
My email advises backing all three win only and also an ew trixie.
Not wishing the LATE BETTING SERVICE to feel left out at mid-day i get the Donald McCain trained GO CONQUER. For all you form buffs amongst us, his form figures are a quite amusing F. U. McCoy is booked to ride and as the information is coming very strong for this stable via Steve at the moment, I personally have a good bet on this at 9/4 and advise via email all my clients do likewise.
I have to go to Newmarket this afternoon for a meeting, so I will update in the morning.
Wednesday 9th. Ryan Moore’s judgement isn’t at its best on CALCULATED RISK as at the 2 furlong post he is still 20ish lengths off the lead and than entering the final furlong he absolutely flies and is only beaten a fast diminishing three lengths.
The LIBACCIO field has cut up to only three runners and Paddy Power who I advised the bet with are still showing first 2 places. I call them and the Girl confirms this is the case, although I do find it extremely hard to believe, but who am I to say. LIBACCIO is a shade disappointing in my opinion and is beaten by the outsider of the field into second. So if Miss Paddy Power has got her facts correct and not just reading off the screen our ew trixie is still in play.
HARMOODY does exactly what’s on the tin and is laying in second and kicks off the bend to win nice and cosily at a very well backed 15/8.
So on the singles we just about break even with a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd, with the jury still out regarding the ew trixie.
The form figures of F.U. doesn’t stop GO CONQUER leading all the way and bagging another winner for the LATE BETTING SERVICE at a very well backed 10/11 making our 9/4 look a steal.
So in all a very satisfactory days work and the Newmarket meeting was cracking with two very live runners next week.
ANDY BELL puts up two losers today and both were very disappointing , but again the LATE BETTING SERVICE who are already over 40 points in profit have the long wait until the last race at Kempton to back the Adam Kirby ridden SECRET SUCCESS at 11/4.
Adam Kirby has bagged three winners coming into our race, don’t you just hate that, but all is well as he is always well placed and wins a shade cosily.
That should elevate us up the BETFAN table and put us up to 60ish points profit.
Thursday 10th. Another good day for the LATE BETTING SERVICE as we have now bagged three winners on the trot and are sitting nicely placed in 3rd on the table, with just a shade over 60 points.
It’s very quiet this morning at the moment, but we have got the heads up for John Gosdens at Kempton tonight.
TARTHAAB has apparently been working with winners in the mornings and is very well fancied to run away with his race tonight. 5/4 is on the short side but I decide to email this out and back it myself.
I am on the verge of putting up a no bet day to the LATE clients, when I spot that Marco Botti has a 20/1 shot running in the first a Kempton, BRYON GALA. He has been placed on all but one of his starts, been a short priced Favourite on three different occasions, of his seven starts, which denotes to me he has been showing ability at home, has a good draw and a well capable 5lb claimer on board. I mention this all in my email and as I have not been told anything, we have a relatively small ew bet on him at 20/1.
It’s time to have a look at the Scottish National runners for Saturday and see if we can get an unprecedented double up after our 28/1 winner last week.
I think we have found one for the Scottish National, but I just need to make a couple of phone calls to hopefully confirm my thoughts.
BRYON GALA is first to run and what a race he runs, only beaten by the favourite and finishes a running on 2nd, what a feather in ones cap that would of been if we had of copped.
A great leveller is our great racing game as TARTHAAB runs like a ponce and comes 4th of 4. Piss poor.
Friday 11th. THE LATE BETTING SERVICE continues to amass the points and firms its place in the top three of the table, with four winning days on the trot, while ANDY BELLS clients are up and down like the brides nickers, but they can stick it, as we have amazingly passed the 500 points profit barrier this month in less than a year with BETFAN, at just £20 a point that’s a cool 10k earned tax free in 10ish months.
Another relatively quiet day, but I do put up a 20/1 and a 9/2 both ew and chance a very small ew double. I am waiting for the nod on one at Wolverhampton tonight, which if it materialises I will pop on to the LATE BETTING SERVICE.
My thoughts are in fact confirmed for the Scottish National and we will be having a good punt, but sorry folks no freebie tomorrow as it’s going on my main ANDY BELL service.
We don’t get a look in today, but hey at 20/1 and 9/2 we can afford a few misses, it’s not like backing even money shots, when you have to get two out of three to profit and we know that is impossible long term.
Our Wolverhampton bet doesn’t materialise, so nothing to add or bring to the party.
Saturday 12th. Scottish National day today and lets see if we can complete the double.
We have a great week ahead of us with one of my favourite meetings the two day Craven meeting at Newmarket and than the start of Yarmouth on Bank holiday Monday.
We go to Newbury today for my FREE TIP…
3.30 Newbury – Brownsea Brink – 10/1 Each Way (bet365)
In all a very good and profitable weeks betting and I didn’t even put up PINEAU DE RE as a points bet.
“However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.” – Winston Churchill
Until next week when we have a MAXIMUM bet on the Rowley mile, be good and safe.
Back next Saturday.
Andy Bell.
