Sunday 9th. Our free tip FAR WEST at 12/1 was defiantly booked for a place at the very least yesterday, when annoyingly falling at the last. Then my LATE BETTING SERVICE I put up ALBEN STAR also at 12/1ew and that lead all the way and just got caught bang on the line. So in all a rather unfortunate and frustrating day.
I am very cheery this morning after reading The Grumbling Dons 5k challenge at Cheltenham and far from being frightened off, I can’t wait.
He keeps banging on about being BETFAN’S No1 all time tipster, but would Lester Piggott beat Richard Hughes nowadays, I don’t think so. He also gave poor old Daryl Jacob one hell of a “pocket talking” bashing and he was also certainly crying in his milk after tipping up 4 losers.
We have been enjoying some wonderful Sunday betting and winners lately and lets hope we can continue the trend today.
We bet 3 today, all in Ireland. TIDAL BAY under Ruby’s guidance and is also reportedly his GRAND NATIONAL mount, which I am taking 20/1 ew on offer today and also, Tammy’s Revenge and James in the Hunter Chase today.
No big Sunday lunches or party’s today as a nice quiet one is planned.
We are very unlucky, not to hit another big price winner, when our 25/1 ew, JAMES, which looked like the winner along the back straight and was finally 4th after a rather strange ride and with TIDAL and TAMMYS both 2nd, we make a small loss.
Although we do get on the score board with our LATE BETTING SERVICE when we hit a nice 3/1 winner in the shape of ELECTRIC QATAR.
Monday 10th. Its been very quiet this morning and I am just about to leave for our annual weekly greasy spoon fix. I know we have a winner waiting to happen tomorrow up at AYR.
Today I put up GOLD SHOW win only at 4/1 as it has had problems at home, but if it comes back to what he is capable of he should win.
It’s really nice to see all you punters taking advantage of the BETFAN birthday giveaway, which is perfect to build up a bank in time for the Festival in March.
If the weather holds out, I have a busy week at the tracks, with Chepstow Wednesday, Leicester Thursday for the Hunter Chase and Fakenham on Friday for a Fox Hunters.
Unfortunately GOLD SHOW runs no sort of race and it looked as if one of its reoccurring problems has resurfaced. So we post a second losing day.
Tuesday 11th. I am told that GOLD SHOW on re-entering the paddock was bleeding from the nose, which signifies a broken blood vessel.
As I said yesterday we have a cracking bet today.
Biggles Steve has just been on the phone and told me that the trainer is convinced he has found the problem and cured it with AND THE MAN. The problem, he has said, was in his back area and that is the reason for so many pull-up’s on his record, but after two solid runs Nicky Richards is very confident of a huge run today. As I say in my email we need to take the 4/1 ew now, this price will go, as the plan is to sit behind and take it up after the last.
I also get a very confident call saying the Irish fraternity are going to smash up STONEYBROOK after its very impressive start to his racing career. This is Even money, so I also take this and advise the same.
I toy with the idea of one of my ew doubles or prats bets, but as we have not been flying for a couple of days, I decide to sit tight.
Like the London buses you never get just the one, I get a late call saying that LAYLA JOAN will win and to lay the favourite, as he can’t jump. LAYLA is trading at 13/8, so I advise a big bet on THE LATE BETTING SERVICE.
We have a very interesting Hunter Chaser to look at tomorrow at Musselburgh and this is going to have a short priced favourite GOLAN WAY running, which looks very beatable. (with what at the moment I don’t know)
STONEYBROOK cruises up under AP and wins with his head in his chest and makes it a good winning start to the day. AND THE MAN is niggled along at half way and I think the worst with my heart in my mouth as I have personally had a big bet ew on this and so have all my clients.
We are pushed up into second coming to the last and jumps to the front and wins going away, Oi Oi a perfectly executed plan and we have two nice winners on the day and made another 20ish points profit. That’s another beer I owe Steve when we meet up at Leicester on Thursday, great call old chap.
The icing is firmly put on the cake for THE LATE BETTING SERVICE as LAYLA JOAN jumps for fun as the favourite struggles to be foot perfect and she absolutely canters up and is destined for a lot better things in the near future.
A cracking day for both of my services and I am doubly pleased as with the inclement weather at the moment things are FAR from easy out there at the moment.
Wednesday 12th. Not wishing to be greedy, but I do wish I had put up my ew double yesterday, but as the famous saying goes, wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which fills first.
Nothing is really coming through early today, I think everybody from the very top to the bottom are suffering badly due to the constant rain and winds at the moment.
FOZY MOSS at 6/1, is thought to be still well in, even with his 7lb rise for the last time out win and looks an ew bet to nothing, to at least get us a place anyway. I email this out as a small ew bet and advise taking the 6s.
RADIO NOWHERE although he is still a maiden put in his best run yet, when second last time and with only a 4lb rise in the weights also looks worth a small ew bet at 9/2.
I am so glad I decided not to go to Lingfield at the last moment today as it’s reminiscent to a hurricane season, with sheets of rain and 55mph winds, unbelievable.
Fred comes on the phone advising me to back YOUNG RICH in the last at Kempton and take the 13/2 ew, which is on offer, as he is confident that the monies will come for this and it will shorten. I do exactly that and advise all my LATE BETTING SERVICE clients to do likewise.
FOZY MOSS is never travelling and never looks like troubling the scorers before he is virtually pulled up. Unfortunately the same applies to RADIO NOWHERE but at least his jockey does not prolong the agony as he does pull up RADIO NOWHERE relatively quickly. Two ew bets today and we have never even really got a run for our money, which is disappointing to say the least.
My day finishes on a high as YOUNG RICH gets it on the nod in a very close three way finish at a well backed 11/2. Nice to finish on a high and go into what could be a huge day tomorrow with my confidence intact again.
Thursday 13th. Bit of an abysmal showing for the ANDY BELL clients with 2 unplaced runners, but much better news for our sister or top up service THE LATE BETTING, which put up a really nice 13/2 winner in the last at Kempton YOUNG RICH which returned at 11/2. ANDY BELL is still clear at the top of the BETFAN table with THE LATE BETTING SERVICE now creeping up into 4th with a great 50% strike rate.
Jumping on the 10-07 train to Leicester today, thank goodness its on and I can get out again.
I arrive at Leicester to the disappointing news that our big Hunter Chaser bet is not happening today as the ground is verging on being heavy. Although all is not doom and gloom as I am told that BIN END in the 2-40 which is trading at 7/2, I am rather cautious as the conditions here today are awful and back and advise this as an ew chance.
Venetia Williams kicks off with her now habitual first winner of the day and the David Bridgewater connections are confidently smashing up their Don’t Do Mondays in the second and how often does this happen, David Bridgewater wins with his other un-backed horse. There are a lot of glum faces in the owners and trainers afterwards and I think there will be questions asked.
The Grumbling Don is creeping around the paddock and I can’t resist getting into his ribs about our Cheltenham side bet, which is met with a “good luck boy” through gritted teeth. Maybe his bravado or the boss Penny has caught up with him, as he couldn’t hardly raise a smile and sloped off.
I have a Grumbling Don face on after BIN END is brought down at the very first and the journey home is looking more daunting than ever. I get some comfort food “Jellied eels” in hope they will stimulate the brain in this now driving snow.
The Hunter Chase goes without any great surprises apart from a 50/1 shot nearly nicking it coming up the hill and making the very confident SHY JOHN jockey look very silly.
We have logged another losing day, a mind blowing two on the trot now and I am freezing cold and have got a four hour journey home now, with only Fakenham to look forward to tomorrow, Wow another cold and wet one.
Friday 14th. Hope none of you have forgotten it’s VALENTINES day today, if you have don’t moan about the crap that’s heading your way.
For once I wouldn’t be overly concerned if Fakenham was called off, as it’s renowned for being the coldest course in the country and today, already the rain is teaming down and the wind is howling.
I know if I cry off I will be letting Mr Jolly down, come rain or shine he always looks forward to his days out, which are unfortunately numbered now and that always helps to keep me motivated on days like these.
I decide as the prices are very cramped and small fields, to put up a win Trixie, which includes SPIRIT OSCAR in the second at 5/4, MISTRAL REINE at 7/4 and finally and certainly not least DOCTOR HARPER, which is the strongest and my banker of the day.
As always the cart tracks to Fakenham are awful and it takes just under two hours.
SPIRIT OSCAR never really jumps and when he hits three out it seals his fate or rather defeat and that isn’t the start I or any of us wanted.
The owners and trainers bar is heaving, which isn’t difficult as it’s rather like your Grandmothers living room anyway, also it’s like your Grandmother behind the counter, although she is lovely.
What’s happening to me, my first bet is second, it’s raining, it’s windy and it’s The Grumbler himself hovering up all the sandwiches and cakes, I find myself wondering how many has he tucked away in his coat pockets for later. (probably Penny’s valentines meal).
Granny does make me a lovely cup of tea which is most appreciated. The Don calls me over, but I make my excuses in favour of the elements and the paddock.
MISTRAL REINE is always well placed on the outside where the better ground appears to be and when Leighton Shakes the reins the race is all over as he pulls away and wins very easily to kick off our Trixie.
Mr Jolly is in need of a warming as the heaters on his wheelchair don’t seem to be working. I take him to the owners bar for a cuppa and Mr Grumbling is waiting. As I’m now in a more positive frame of mind after a winner, I do ask the Don what he’s doing in these parts, apparently he is here to back SAFFRON WELLS, which he has been told will win from his Newmarket connections. Typical, I think, I need DOCTOR HARPER to show all my members a profit on the day and I have also just put ALL my cash on it at an amazing price of 5/4. The Don goes into great lengths to why his fancy can win, I just can’t see it, as I tell him I have The DOCTOR tissued up at 1/2 on, because he is 23lbs well in and even after all the allowances he is still 16lbs well in. I do now have a niggle in my mind as to why the DOCTOR has drifted to such a big price of 5/4, but hey hoe to late now Bellie Boy I think as I’m already all in.
Oi Oi DOCTOR HARPER is never challenged and leads all the way to give us a double in our Trixie and a winning day. The rain and wind doesn’t seem so bad now as I am waiting at the bookies to draw my winnings, all in CASH heheheh. I don’t look for The Don on my way out as it’s not P.C. to gloat.
Winning days are back again and we were unlucky that we didn’t cop all 3 winners, instead of 2 winners and a second, which would of been so much more profitable.
I get home just in time to watch our LATE BETTING SERVICE horse LOUIS VEE, which we have backed at 7/4 for good money, totally miss the break and trail the field for half the race, until he decides to pick up the bridle and wins going away. So another nice winning day for all the LATE BETTING service boys and girls.
Saturday 15th. Nice to get back to winning ways again yesterday, as it seemed ages on ANDY BELL, but when I looked it was only two losing days, fickle things us gamblers aren’t we? The LATE BETTING service is also flying, in 2nd on the BETFAN table at the moment and had another winner last night and that makes it an amazing 4 out of 6 winners in this difficult week.
I am not relishing having to put up a free tip today as the racing will be a war of attrition and I fear some of today’s horses may not recover from hard races in time for the Festival or even worse they may NOT get hard races and use today as a prep run for Cheltenham, blaming the ground for any thing that under performs.
Oh, you must all tune into The Rock Holdens BETFAN TV webcam as it makes good viewing, it must be Frankie the Frog he is talking to on the mobile at the start, because I don’t think he knows anymore Frankies. As for his quip about not liking me or the Don, if that’s the case our rented apartment at the Festival will be pretty quiet heheheh. In all seriousness very well done “The Rock” another great BETFAN promo.

2:30 Wincanton – LAMPS – Each Way 15/2 (BetVictor)
Another good week in all, as we sit first and second in the table with well over 100 points combined profit between our two services .
I shall probably be putting up a couple of Cheltenham anti-post bets in the next couple of weeks, if we ever get a break in this dreaded weather we are enduring at the moment.
Next week if any of you are around I shall be at Donny on Wednesday, Huntingdon Thursday and god only knows where the rest.
If you want to get in touch or tell me what a tosser I am, you can now on Andy Bell Racing, which is now on Facebook.
As the great man said himself ” Don’t worry, Rodney. This time next year, we’ll be millionaires”
