Andy Bell’s Racing Diary… THATS RHYTHAM rocks.
Sunday 2nd. Once again our free tip yesterday didn’t do us justice, although he did look like winning for most of the race, ultimately the odds on Fav done us on the run in. Our swing in the hunter Chase on the 100/1 shot NEWYEARSRESOLUTION flattered to deceive for a while and although we knew he would plod on, he did, but not quick enough and finished 6th. TOBY LERONE also looked like winning for most of the race, but once again was ran out of it after jumping the last, at 9/2 ew no harm done. So a very small loss to start February.
It’s Hunter Chaser day again today and we are just waiting for our contact to walk the course and get back to us.
Fred is on the mobile telling me that BROUGHTON has really blossomed since his last run and has been galloping and schooling with previous winners and going just as well. The ground will suit and if he transforms his home work to the track today he is fully expected to win and secure his ticket to the Cheltenham Festival in March. At 13/8 knowing this price will soon disappear, I email out and also back myself.
The news comes from the track that we have been waiting for, all systems go.
THATS RHYTHAM is the boy we are backing today. Page who has won on the old boy the last twice and rides him in all his homework is once again on board. We are told not to be put off by RHYTHAM now being 14 years old as he is as good as ever. I email this out as an ew bet at 15/2 with Victor Chandler and as soon as I have done this it goes 8/1, which I am not overly concerned about because they are best odds guaranteed. Also better known as my “prats bet” I put them both in an each way double.
Right all done, now out to Sunday lunch at the local and as I have invited the whole tribe over today, I hope we can cop a winner, because odds on the bill is already in my corner.
The Sunday lunch is ok, but as always it could be done better at home, how often do we say that, I am not the greatest fan of Aunt Bessies Yorkshire puds, rubbery crap, how long does it take to whip up a bit of flour, eggs and milk. The red vino is really good and there’s no clearing up so it’s worth it.
I sneak into the bar to listen to BROUGHTON and never get over excited because it sounds very much like what I was told this morning, a cake walk and at odds on as well, so a great start to the day we have already multiplied our monies by about 10ish times and have made a profit on the day already.
Now we have our big ew bet looming on THATS RYTHAM and also the icing on the cake, the prats ew double.
I now have an hour and a half to kill and although I’m in the boozer, I bet this is going to drag on as I MUST be home to watch our Hunter bet.
It’s the bums rush time for the lingering family now, as getting home for the 4-00 is a must.
I am amazed to see our charge has slipped out to an incredible 12/1. Page has him nicely settled on the outside and out of troubles way for the first circuit, where the second fav falls. Three out the family and I begin to get more animated as we move into third on the inside and as we jump two out the whole of Jafeica House erupts into raptures of “come on’s” and jumping the last its screams and oi oi’s and believe me its the longest furlong I can remember for a long time. OI OI, WE HAVE DONE IT, both our bets have won nicely and we have also won our ew double.
During the bedlam I have a quick count up and think we have all multiplied our preferred stakes by over 100 times.
Although them Greedy 1s have somehow nicked a point off us, as it was 12s on the of and has been returned at 11s.
As you know news travels fast and the mobile is red hot, the Great Alfonze is soon on his way over, Hilts knows because he has put a cash bet on for me so he is winging his way over and with the most of the crew already present, I can see this being a late one and the Jafeica House wine reserves getting severely hit.
Monday 3rd. Yes no prizes for guessing we didn’t finish our jolly up until far too late and the bottles are living proof that to much was consumed by all. It’s like the day after the lord Mayors show here and also the days racing has a similar look.
We are now already 106 points in profit for February, to go with our 100+ points profits in January and December with just a poultry 80+ in November heheheh cocky bastard.
I think it prudent just to send out a little calming and feet back on the ground email as soon as I’ve gathered myself, just saying please don’t just give all our winnings back like mug punters, which we certainly are not and to stick to suggested stakes and not up them just at the moment.
It’s 11am and nothing strong enough to tempt us has come through or shown up on my figures or tissues, I know we are all gagging to get stuck in again today, but I suggest we all sit on our hands and keep our powder dry for later in the week.
I have to collect a cash bet from one of the two local Corals, so I pop out with Tony the Machine to collect it. As I collect yesterdays small bet and large winnings, I can tell my bets in here are also now numbered.
Just as we enter Weatherspoon’s to spend good old Joes money again, I get a call regarding the stayer WAVING in the 2-40 at Wolverhampton, when this guy calls I really take notice and as it’s too late for my main ANDY BELL service, I email and text this out to my LATE BETTING SERVICE and advise taking the 11/10 on show. As we have two Corals within walking distance we descend upon the other and reinvest Joes own cash in his other shop.
With 45 minutes to spare we have time for that pint before the race, which is ultimately two. Having taken 5/4 in the shop, coming round the top bend WAVING comes trotting round the outside and just “waves” goodbye to the rest and wins easily. that’s the beer money sorted for the day or rather the week and Joe gets hit with double bubble. (I am told WAVING will win again on Saturday).
A nice winning day for the LATE service and all my ANDY BELL clients didn’t have to sit on their hands all day, as I know a lot of you are members of both services.
Tuesday 4th. Last time winner NASSAU STORM at 5/2 looks a to bigger price and we all need to back him, so a nice early email.
BETFAN towers are on the phone, a Knighthood, a pay rise I’m wondering?? No even better they are wondering whether I would like a grudge match with the Grumbling Don over the four day Cheltenham Festival. Of course I would is my immediate answer, as it will be finally my chance to kick his arse in the public domain and put a stop to his constant Grumbling at us boys “THAT WORK TO LIVE, NOT, LIVE TO WORK”
Now all MY Betfan members get on board, as all the very HOTTEST and BEST available information will be on here for EVERY race for all FOUR days to ensure my victory.
BRING IT ON, I CAN’T WAIT!!!!
Who ever wins, ultimately the only winners will be all you BETFAN CLIENTS and a chance for all you NON CLIENTS to be involved in a Cheltenham GRUDGE Spectacle.
NASSAU STORM is always travelling well, but I think he is just a length further back than ideal and although he is always trying and sticking his neck out he doesn’t quite get there and is a fast finishing second.
Wednesday 5th. This is what I like and look forward to, a very confident and bullish, get on and get on now early call. CABUCHON comes out really well on the figures after this 7yo geldings last two seconds. 15/8 is on show with bet365, which is also best odds guaranteed so I early email this out.
The very shrewd Stuart Williams played down the impressive looking win of NATIONAL SERVICE on his racecourse debut, although the second and third have both ran since and have done the winner no favours. On the plus side Stuart Williams didn’t mention the good time and at a shade odds on I also decide to back and email this out and also put it in a double with CABUCHON.
With the over hanging fear of my trip to Huntingdon falling foul to this awful weather, I decide not to do the Huntingdon card and put my efforts into having a look at the Cheltenham Festival prices and seeing if there’s any value for us to have.
Sean Levy has the well backed 6/4 CABUCHON at the back and travelling well, turning the home bend he sweeps round the outside and is always just going to get there and wins for us nicely.
Now with over 5 hours until our next runner and a possible 25 points profit on offer for the day, I have a good think and decide as we only have 3 runners in the race tonight to hedge our bets.
Being very conscious we are 15 points up on the day already and with 8 laid out tonight, we are in a win only situation, I decide it’s a no brainer to bet both other runners to cover our single and double on the now smashed up 4/7 shot. 2 points win on AREMIS at 13/8 covers our double and 1 point win on THE DANDY YANK at 11/1 to cover our single on NATIONAL SERVICE and also the double. As I know the owner of THE DANDY YANK and he tells me it’s going to ping out and try and make all.
Not everybody’s cup of tea I know, but as I’ve said before if we can illuminate any loses its got to be for the best. If NATIONAL SERVICES does win we will win 25points, if ARAMIS wins we win 9 points and if DANDY wins we win 16 points, see where I’m coming from.
A thrilling 3 way photo and THE DANDY YANK hangs on to win us 16 points on the day. If we had of left the bet as it was we would of won 7 and this is not our old favourite hindsight talking.
Thursday 6th. In all a very nice winning day again yesterday and we are whizzing away at the top with over 100 points again. Huntingdon has got the go ahead today, how I don’t know, but good.
BETFAN hits its 4th birthday today and our “pimps” the TOWER Boys are chucking a few quid about, by offering US at half price, yes, half price trials and memberships, jump on board is my advice, because if the greedy1s doubled their prices, we would ALL smash their doors down without knowing if we were backing a winner, I personally know a lot of tipsters and betting firms and in my relatively short time here, I can honestly tell you most others can’t hold a candle to a lot of us BETFAN boys and girl.
Scary stuff as I am taking on a Venetia Williams mud lark on in the second as the stats suggest it can’t win.
Milarrow is 6/1 and I advise backing this ew.
Also crossing the boarder my Ferguson contact thinks RETRIEVE at Doncaster will go well ew at 13/2.
The journey to Huntingdon is horrendous with the constant spray on the windscreen and the ever pulling out lorries halting the traffic flow.
Mr Jolly’s well told and rehearsed story does cheer me up, which was about the time when Michael Chapman (still my neighbour) and myself left our local The Grapes to walk to The Swan, passing his house in the process on Christmas eve, after a long afternoon, as good Samaritan’s do, we knocked on Mr jolly’s door to see if he wanted to join us this Christmas eve, more probably to bum a lift and after a few knocks and no answer we went in and called as we thought he was asleep, still no answer, what a fantastic smell was wafting from the oven in the kitchen, full of Dutch courage, we had to inspect, Wow a fantastic plump, cooked turkey.
Just a quick taste later and the bones were ready for the next days soup boiling. Hehehe we waddled down to the Swan and kept our ill gotton booty story all to our selves. I wish we could of all witnessed and pictured Mr Jolly’s face the next morning getting his turkey out to put the roastys in and being presented with well sucked bones. How awful, but as they say all good comes out of bad as his neighbour Paul “Potty” Potter invited him for Christmas lunch and he has done to this day, 30 years on.
The Venetia Williams mud lark bolts up in the first as it does in the second, what ever am I doing taking her on, what a bad error of judgement. I even ask her how she does it in the owners and trainers bar and with a wry smile she replies “must be magic”
RETREIVE travels really well and looks the most likely winner two out and just runs out of steam as it did last time, personally I don’t think this is going to be a lot of good and will be found another job.
The only thing that brightens up my day is being told the Nichols hotpot BLACK RIVER is very ponderous and can’t jump at home, so I lay him at 6/4ish on Betdaq to regain a few losses.
Friday 7th. Today’s a different day, but the rain is still falling and the racing is still very poor. I am thankful for small mercies, when I am told that the connections will not hear of defeat for BALTIMORE ROCK, who has been backed from 6/4 into 5/6 and the Pipes have put young Keiron Edgar on board to give him a birthday winner.
EASY BEESY didn’t get home over 3 miles last time in soft and the drop back in trip looks ideal for him today and at 15/2 he looks a good ew bet.
Not much happening in Jafeica House today and I am trashed to start tomorrows cards for obvious reasons. We will probably get just the one jumps meeting tomorrow at Newbury, as I can’t see Warwick being on with the course already being waterlogged and with the forecast heavy rain from midnight onwards and Uttoxeter already abandoned. We do have two AW meetings at Lingfield and Wolverhampton.
Keiron Edgar won’t be getting many birthday cards and presents from the Brookhouse’s the poorer owners of BALTIMORE ROCK, which was ridden as if defeat was out of the question, until it totally missed its jumping at the last two, if he was ridden closer, I think he would still of won even after the two poorish jumps.
EASY BEESY travelled like a dream until two out, when it looked as if he had eaten all the pies last night and faded out of contention very quickly, which was surprising because he is a proven stayer and couldn’t even get us a place.
This rain sodden ground isn’t helping our money winning quest at the moment, which is most annoying, but we have accumulated plenty of fat to last us for a while.
Saturday 8th. Last night was a quiet one as I am planning on going to Newbury this morning to see if we can find another MY TENT OR YOURS as we did last year.
I am amazed that Warwick has been given the green light and goes ahead, it will be interesting to see how BAD the going will actually be. As a betting proposition its a no go area for me and if you bet there be very careful.
Newbury will be nearly as testing and they have omitted two fences per circuit.
Today’s Free Tip
3:35 Newbury – FAR WEST 12/1 Each Way (various) First 5 places at Selected Bookmakers
Lets hope the rain stays away so we can get our teeth into things again. Tomorrow, if the going is not bottomless we are hoping to have a bet in the Hunter Chase at Leopardstown. Next week is all weather dependent but all being well we have lined up for Wednesday.
Don’t do anything I wouldn’t!
Back next Saturday.
