Backers Bonus Eyecatchers

As the dust settles over Newmarket we can reflect on the results of the first two Classics. I must say that I will be very surprised if we have seen a champion in either the one thousand with Miss France or with Night Of Thunder in the colts Classic.

Australia might be the one to take out of the 2000gns but he will never be any value when he next runs.

I was pleased to see Shifting Power close up in 4th as he was the one that beat Parbold my ante-post tip who was beaten under 2 lengths by him giving away weight. Which to me means if Richard Fahey had run him he would have gone close to winning based on the form book. However I have been told the colt might well go for the Irish gns if the trainer is pleased with him.

I have now been working on a new bet for the Epsom Classics the Oaks and the Derby both horses being big juicy prices at the moment but after the success of my Spring Sting patent and also the amount of big price winners I put up in this column I’m not prepared to give them away as another freebie.

What I will be doing is releasing the Classic Epsom Double on Fold4Gold in the next week. This service is a mere £20 a month which is a superb deal for everyone when you consider many would pay hundreds just for the double. Also bear in mind the Fold4Gold service was the one that has made 800 points in one day in the past.

Howies Hotties continue in top form although last weeks selection was a non runner. Today sees the start of the Chester May meeting which brings together the good and great from Liverpool and Manchester which means Wayne and Colleen Rooney will be on parade.

The big race of the day is the Chester Cup a handicap over 22 furlongs which looks very competitive. It’s usually best to be drawn in single figures and have a horse that has proven form over this unique round track.

With this in mind today’s free tip is Communicator who has won round here all be it over a shorter trip. The gelding has been performing with credit on the polytrack all Winter and ran well behind Litigant on Good Friday at Lingfield.

My only doubt is the extra 2 furlongs of this contest but we do have the excellent Oisin Murphy in the plate and he is a very good judge of pace. We should have each way chances and down to 4th place.

2.45 Chester – Communicator – 10/1 Each Way Bet (paddy power)

EYECATCHERS

These have been ticking over but I hope you never missed out on Meddling last week who won at 20/1

FLAT RACING

Olivers Mount trainer E.Vaughan – Just touched off by Meddling at Lingfield when not getting the best of runs. Meddling and this one could both be worth following in the right grade.

Trumpet Major trainer R.Hannon – Looked all over the winner at Newmarket until fading close home. A return to a mile on good ground could see him in the winners enclosure.

Ruwaiyan trainer J.Tate – Won last time with a lot in hand and could be well ahead of his mark.

Fieldgunnerkirkup trainer D.Barron – Ran down the field behind Ruwaiyan but this one needs soft ground to show his best. When he gets his preferred conditions he will go close.

Amralah trainer M.Channon – A very good 3rd at Newmarket on Sunday in a race that will throw up lots of winners. He was making his seasonal debut and will improve for the run.

Back next Wednesday have a good week and be lucky.

Howard Davis.
