The main talking point on the racing scene over the last week has been the amazing coup set up by legendary gambler Barney Curley. Although Barney has yet to accept full credit for the bets, all four winning horses have links to him.
The winning Quartet were backed in Lucky15’s, Yankies, Trebles and Doubles overnight at odds of 10/1, 7/1, 20/1 and 7/1 respectively before being returned at SP’s of evens, 9/4, 4/6 and 4/7.
It is estimated winnings total over £2 Million for the Irish gambler and his colleagues. This is not the first major gamble landed by Barney in 1975 he pulled off a master stroke with Yellow Sam at Bellewstown near Dublin when he blocked off the only phone on course by getting a friend to check on the well being of his sick aunt. In those pre-mobile phone days it stopped on course bookies from knowing about large bets that had been made and so unable to shorten the price on Yellow Sam.
Our intrepid punter and trainer also landed another massive coup in 2010 so you can see why bookmakers are in awe of the great man.
However what you don’t know about Barney he has attempted other coups overtime which don’t get publicity but when he does hit the target winnings can be life changing. This is very similar to our Fold4Gold service which has thrown up some very big winners this month making lots of new clients join the service.
Well the message to you guys is thanks for joining but there will be losing days, weeks and months but just like Barney Curley coups you have to stick with it and not fold after a losing period. The same thing applies to all my tipster colleagues on Betfan when you join them please stay on board as those that throw in the towel are the losers.
Also for those of you who are not members of Fold4Gold be warned there will be a MASSIVE WINNING BET at some stage this year and you have to be in it to win it!
The bookies have been crying all week over the legitimacy of the horses in the big coup as they had dropped stones in the handicap and in some cases hadn’t run for ages. Well to be honest those are the type of horses I look for and those are the type of horses that can make us all the major profits we all seek. After all it doesn’t take the brain of an Einstein to keep tipping favourites.
We had a great run from last weeks Howies Hottie Ted Spread who finished 3rd in a three way photo at 16/1 and hopefully today’s selection can do even better.
I’m playing in the 5.50 Kempton on Six Silver Lane. This is a very low grade handicap for very moderate animals. The tip is in my opinion a typical Barney Curley type horse as he has dropped from a winning mark of 76 and today races off only 49. His last win was achieved on the beach at Laytown in Ireland 2 years ago but he has shown a little promise since joining Derek Shaws yard. They have booked George Baker to ride and on a surface that should suit he can go well at an each way price.
EYECATCHERS
ARTIFICIAL SURFACE
Discussiontofollow trainer M.Murphy – Easy winner at Kempton and a horse improving fast.
Top Cop trainer R.Harris – Finished unplaced at Kempton after showing lots of early dash. He will be fitter next time and one to look out for.
Rowe Park trainer Linda Jewel – Old timer that is well handicapped and can win on any artificial surface.
Brocklebank trainer S.Dow – Finished like the proverbial train last week and I’m sure will be primed to win soon.
JUMPERS
The Giant Bolster trainer D.Bridgwater – Super winner at Cheltenham on desperate ground. He will be even better on good ground and you can’t rule him out for the Gold Cup.
Big Bucks trainer P.Nicholls – Only beaten by lack off fitness last week. He remains the best staying hurdler in the country.
Baile Anrai trainer D.Skelton – A very good 2nd at Donny in the big handicap chase last Saturday and again he will go even better on a sounder surface.
Back next Wednesday have a good week and be lucky.
Howard Davis.
