Bankers Bonus Eyecatchers

July 30, 2014 By admin Leave a Comment

I am not the biggest fan of the Commonwealth Games but you have to take your hat off to the dedication of some of the competitors.

I thought the Triathlon was amazing and Alistair and Jonny Brownlee must be the two fittest Sportsmen on the planet.

Did anyone watch the Rugby Sevens? As I thought they were super entertainment.

I know one thing I would pay money to see is a 400 meter race between footballers Rooney, Sturridge and Wilshire against the two Brownlee brothers where they all had to compete the one lap dribbling the ball as they ran.

My money would be on the brothers as Wilshire would have to stop for a fag, Sturridge to ask someone the way and Rooney would be looking for the nearest pub.

Those footballers have no dedication but what can we expect on the pittance they are paid.

Well you won’t hear me moaning about the quality of todays racing it’s just superb with the dual on the Sussex Downs between Toronado and Kingman and then over in Ireland day three of the Galway Festival which to me is even a greater feast than Goodwood.

So what am I going to put up as Howies Hottie as I’m spoilt for choice? But just before I tell you today’s freebie just to say last weeks tip Pabusar was backed off the boards from 33/1 overnight down to 5/1 before finishing 3rd.

Anyway today’s tip goes in the 1.55 Goodwood a handicap over the marathon trip of 2 miles 5 furlongs. The selection is Ray Ward from the David Simcock yard and will be ridden by Jim Crowley.

The last time he ran was at Royal Ascot over a staying trip and he was going pretty well when badly hampered then ran on again in the closing stages suggesting this journey will be right up his street.

Also looking back at Ray Wards form he ran a super race in the 2013 Queens Vase behind The Ascot Gold Cup winner Leading Light and if he runs to that level he will take plenty of beating with the main danger to be the lightly weighted 3 year old filly Maid In Rio who might not be guaranteed to get the trip aswell as the selection.

EYECATCHERS

FLAT RACING

Decent Fella trainer Ann Stokell – A ready winner when not fancied by this gambling yard however the gelding is very well handicapped and can win again when the money is down.

Pabusar trainer Ann Stokell – Last weeks Howies Hottie who was backed off the boards at Lingfield last week finishing 3rd behind one of my recent eyecatchers Panther Patrol. Pabusar then ran again on Sunday at Pontefract finishing 2nd so keep em peeled as his turn should be soon.

Burren View Lady trainer T.Easterby – Winner on turf recently the filly is well handicapped and could run up a little sequence.

Green Howard trainer R.Bastiman – Named after me the gelding ran well on fast ground when placed last week but when he gets his toe into soft ground it will suit him even more.

American Hope trainer M.Murphy – Looked all over the winner at Ascot until caught close home by a good horse receiving lots of weight compensation should be round the corner.

Fire Fighter trainer A.Maguire – This ex Sir Mark Prescott gelding ran a cracker to be placed at Galway and should be followed where ever Adrian sends him either on the flat or over jumps.

Back next Wednesday have a good week and be Lucky.

Howard Davis.
