Tonight sees the clash between Arsenal and Man Utd with both teams having plenty to prove after their last games which left supporters of these two giants rubbing their heads in dismay as the gunners flopped against Liverpool and Utd couldn’t beat bottom placed Fulham.
Some people are billing it as the feeble versus the soft but I expect both teams to up the anti and think we could see a great game. I wouldn’t like to call it but I reckon over 2.5 goals might be the bet.
With the awful wet weather continuing my advice to all punters is be very careful with your evaluation of the jumping form as when the rains cease and the ground starts to dry you can take current results with a pinch of salt.
Another point is that all these horses that have been running well in bogs have used up so much energy some of them won’t recover for months.
On a more positive note yesterday saw the Grand National weights announced and only a month to the Cheltenham Festival. Roll on the good times.
Last weeks Howies Hottie was a non runner so lets see if we can find one that at least goes to post. The selection is Zaeem in the 4.15 Lingfield. It’s a tight knit 10 furlong handicap but I did note Zaeem staying on well from an impossible position last time into 4th place over course and distance. With a more prudent ride this ex Godolphin horse should be right there in the firing line and hopefully give the Dean Ivory yard another winner.
First Mohican trainer A.King – This ex Sir Henry Cecil horse was a good winner on his seasonal hurdling debut when not fully wound up. The gelding was the galloping companion of Frankel and could be a potent force in the hurdling ranks.
Swing Bowler trainer D.Pipe – Ran well in the big handicap hurdle at Newbury last Saturday on his seasonal appearance and will come on bundles for the run.
Louis Vee trainer R.Brotherton – A 33/1 winner at Wolverhampton last week when tipped up by Fold4Gold. He was dropping back in trip and can win again in low grade sprint races.
Shavansky trainer R.Milman – Ran well at Lingfield last week when finishing strongly. The gelding needs coaxing along and sooner or later he will get the run of the race.
Moonday Sun trainer Amanda Perrett – I think a slight drop in trip back to a mile could do the trick with this one on any of the polytrack surfaces.
On Demand trainer A.Balding – Needed the run when 3rd at Southwell and will improve for the race.
Back next Wednesday have a good week and be lucky.
