It’s raining as I write you will be surprised to know but the good news is on so after writing this I will be making my way down to Plumpton for the lovely little tracks big day of the year.
Little courses like this are the lifeblood of our game and deserve our support on days like this (come on out if you’re in the area). This is a friendly and extremely well run track which is a fair test over the jumps and the hurdles and over the years The Don has seen many a good horse makes its debut here and go on to bigger things.
Lets be serious it may be on today but there is rain forecast so it will be stamina sapping heavy ground which makes the big race the Sussex National at 2.50 all the tougher.
Three Mile Five round here today will feel like thirty five miles and will be not for the fainthearted. It is such a tight track that they can be lulled into going too fast if they are not careful. Our favourite is the Jonjo trained AP ridden Smoking Aces and he has the look of a horse laid out for the race. The problem is we have to take a lot on trust as he does not run very often and rarely wins. I respect connections but I can’t back him at 3/1.
Adrenalin Flight and Munkerty Tunkerty have strong claims but the bet for me is Reblis for the Gary Moore team. Reblis looked right back to his best when winning easily last time and I know they fancy him to win this and retain the race for the yard after they won it last year. Back him to win at 5/1 with Betvictor and lets hope he gallops to victory.
I’m taking a brolly, stay dry, have a great Sunday and as always Trust in the Don.
Back next Sunday
