Kempton was wet but informative yesterday with a few bubbles burst and a few reputations enhanced.
My private members made 24 points profit as we turn round what’s been a rollercoaster month, The Don is not a fan of rollercoasters believe me.
Balder Success was a huge punt for us in the morning at what I thought was a whopping 6/4, in my prices he was 4/5. All the know it alls at Kempton were saying he wouldn’t stay and on track he drifted to 9/4. Oh the joys of best odds guaranteed for my members and a reminder that market drifters win every day as well as gambles!
First Mohican the ex Cecil flat horse was the buzz horse and with many on at fancy prices for Cheltenham you would think we were about to see the new Hurricane Fly. The problem for the hype machine was that he had won a very poor novice hurdle at Doncaster and here was taking on some battle hardened novices like Irving who had cracking form.
Irving smashed the field out of the way in the manner of a good horse and with it crushed an Ante Post dream on First Mohican. He has as much chance of winning at Cheltenham as Andy Bell has of beating me over four days at Cheltenham i.e. none!
Speaking of the tiresome one it was “great” to see him and Simon Holden at Doncaster on Wednesday but I was surprised to see their comments taking the mick out of the fashion of the owner of Un Ace. He may have looked a plonker but if anybody should have kept quiet it’s them as they looked like a pair of extras from Lord of the Rings.
I enjoyed Simon’s Betfan TV by the way but sadly I had to turn the volume down on his suit apart from that first class!
In three weeks Cheltenham will be over but till then all roads lead there and The Don is confident he has his best book of bets EVER going into any Festival. Think of my challenge with Bell as the classy educated boxer against the crude backstreet brawler whose defence is to stop every punch with his chin. To be honest I shall say very little about him from now on lets just get it on!
Lets work on that Festival War chest by revisiting our old friend Join the Clan who won for us at Rasen. Today he runs in the 3.35 at Towcester and he still has plenty in hand at the weights. The further they went the better he went last time so get on today at 6/5 with Betvictor.
Have a great Sunday, put your betting on a professional footing, join my private service and as always Trust in the Don.
Back next Saturday.
