Another fantastic week for The Dons members ended yesterday with two bets and two winners at Newbury.
I must admit to leaving Newbury before the last as I was exhausted after a successful but very hot and tiring week at York. I arrived knowing it had rained liked mad and on the first day arrived wearing my overcoat after being suspicious of the improved forecast.
This was an oversight and I decided to head straight for the cloakroom, sadly I encountered the bizarre sight of BetFan colleagues Holden and Bell who found much hilarity in the Don being overdressed. Yes you got me there gents however Holden was plastered in Sun Tan Lotion that was literally dripping off his face and Bell dressed like a nice cream seller with a ghastly shirt that was matched by an identical tie. He pointed out that he had not brought one and had rented this disgusting tie for the day. How lucky he was that the man who designed his shirt was on hand to step in on the day with a matching tie. As they giggled I reminded myself I could remove my overcoat while they were stuck with their looks all day.
Two 12/1 winners from 3 bets got us off to a flyer and really reminded me how much I love this track. The Northern pros are the best characters and the feeling here was that David O’Meara was now the top man in these parts. I’m sure a certain Mr Fahey will have plenty to say about that as the year unfolds but young Master O’Meara looks an exceptional Trainer and big Southern owners will realise that sooner rather than later.
I was convinced yesterday that Olympic Glory was a max bet and we duly put it out as one on Saturday morning. I also had strong info that Luca Cumani was sure he would win the first so we had that bet too. Olympic Glory will improve for this run and didn’t look mega fit which made his win even more impressive.
With a stack of cash in my pocket the Don decided Newmarket was calling and left with two races left.
I said this flat season we would fly so join us and be in on the action.
Today we go to Ripon for our Sunday Special in the 4.10. I’m on Bold Prediction at 12/1 with Bet365, back him each way he ran really well last time and that was a better race. He rates a good each way bet.
Have a great Sunday and as always Trust in the Don.
Back next Sunday.
