The Summer races by and the Don racked up huge profits in May. Well over 150 points and I really am delivering on what I said would be the best Flat season we have ever had.
I’m thrilled for all of you who backed Marvellous last week under the enigmatic Ryan Moore and she scooted home in the manner of a very good filly. She heads to the Oaks now and the Ballydoyle mob are growing more confident by the day! She probably will never start a race at 10/1 again so let’s all remember when we backed her at 10/1.
On the subject of Epsom I didn’t take much persuading to renew rivalry with Andy Bell, you remember him, the guy who was going to beat me at Cheltenham yes that’s him. To be fair to Andy and it’s not easy to be I felt sorry for the guy as he handed over the five grand side bet I really did. The huge smirk on my face was my way of saying sorry.
Wasn’t the Greyhound Master very rude on Friday comparing Andy’s Racing Diary to a comic, rude and uncalled for in my book Betfan should speak to that guy. There are some very good comics!
I’ve been going to Epsom for over twenty five years and I know the type of horse it takes to win round there. It’s actually a ludicrous place to have a racecourse but it’s unsuitability and cambers actually mean it’s a real test for thoroughbreds. I know who I’m with in the two classics and I can tell you now it’s not the favourite in either race. I also have some huge priced runners that I’m waiting for so I go into Epsom in form and with ammo, I’m looking forward to a glass of Champagne win, lose or draw Andy and for a huge twist on when I usually see you. You can go to the Bar.
I must agree with the fake tan merchant Simon Holden when he wrote about the obsession with dreadful jumps racing on Sunday’s. I’ve always had the belief that if you stage good racing on Sunday’s people will come and they will bet. Thankfully Nottingham stage a decent card on the Flat today and there is a potentially good horse running who is worth a bet. 3.45 sprint and our bet is Foxy Forever who ran a blinder at Newmarket last time. I viewed this horse beforehand and he really looks the part. Soft ground shouldn’t be an issue and he should kick these out of the way and on to much better things. Take the 2/1 with Bet365 I think he will start much shorter this afternoon.
Have a great week and let’s have the best Derby Festival ever.
Back next Sunday.
