This week it’s the House that Jack built on the US PGA Tour with the Memorial Tournament hosted by the Golden Bear himself.
It’s Muirfield village in Ohio that is the home of the Golden Bears Tournament and such is the reverence the great man has in the game that every top player who is fit is coming out to play this week. Jack doesn’t play or even watch much golf these days but he will be in attendance all week and making regular trips to the commentary box.
Fresh from his incredible triumph at Wentworth Rory tees it up and is favourite. Also fresh from his triumph at the Crowne Plaza we have World number 1 Adam Scott. Over the next 3-5 years these two along with Jordan Speith and Bubba Watson will fight it out to be World number 1. The Woods Mickelson era is over and whilst its been fantastic sport like everything in life moves on and the game of golf is ready to fully embrace these new stars.
My own feeling is that in three years time Jordan Speith will be top of the tree but we are in for some massively exciting battles starting this week at Jacks place!!
This course rewards power and accuracy in equal measure which is what Jack would want and a great player usually comes to the fore here. Phil Mickelson once said it’s extra pressure here because it’s one you want to win so that as you walk off 18 on Sunday you hear Jack say thanks you are the Champion. For a guy who has achieved so much shows you how important this week is in the scheme of things.
I’ve really enjoyed writing this Tuesday Golf Column for BetFan for 3 and a half years but today is the final one. To put it in perspective about how long I’ve been here my first golf column gave Rory advice on his homework and described the Tiger as a happily married man. I hope you have gained some insight into golf betting, the players and the courses. Its aim has been to show you what a great game this is to play, watch and punt on and your feedback on my musings has been fantastic.
Of course not everyone will be impressed or positive and there’s always one whose emails are negative if not vindictive. My response to that person is two fold 1 – I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the column! 2 – Were you ever that good a Mother anyway.
Next week sees the start of an unmissable Tuesday racing column which we shall reveal on Betfan TV this Friday, you really won’t want to miss this guy I can assure you.
Its been great, BetFan will always get bigger and better that’s why it’s the best out there, I’ve looked forward to and enjoyed seeing so many of you on the Fairways!
See you at Jacks place, they’re having a party.
