Greyhound Master Tipster

All roads led to London Road on Friday evening where the semi finals of the Romford Puppy Cup were the main event. I have never ever seen so much rain come down during a meeting. I thought we were going to have to call for Noah to being his ark round. Anyway I would take the form lightly as there appeared to be a middle to wide bias. Our main ante post fancy Landed at Last made it through to the Final and landed a very nice trap 1 draw. My subscriber tips were sunk with the rain affected track, so I have had better nights. However last weeks free tip Ballymac Marine duly hosed up and is now best price 6/4 for the Final – you’re all on at 3/1!

We swerved Crayford and Newcastle on Saturday as per normal but I along with many others sided with True Sugar Ray in the Irish Derby Final which was shown on RPGTV – put him up for subscribers but Ballymac Vic hampered him all the way round and it was left to Slippery Robert to pick up early leader Cabra Buck and collect the €125,000 prize.

I always look forward to my Sunday kennel visits and meeting other owners and ‘chewing the fat’ with them. After putting up Blackrose Eve for my subscribers, all roads led to Henlow where I was going to watch my pup Blackstone Marco in the KAB Maiden Derby heats.

My co-owners Carpo and Nick the dog were in attendance. We booked a table in the restaurant, enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast. The big news was that ante post jolly Plus Five had been withdrawn by the track vet upon arrival. This meant our 7/2 pre-race vouchers on Marco were reduced to SP, Nick the dog quick as a flash was on the phone topping up his Marco ante post vouchers, which were unaffected by the withdrawal. Marco didn’t have it all his own way early in his heat and had to show guts and desire before his class pulled him clear to win by four lengths, which led to Carpo ordering some bubbles!! Anyone living near Henlow must pay it a visit, it’s a real friendly place with proper dog folk. A good night out!

Feeling a bit jaded after Sunday nights events, I pulled myself together and managed to get hold of the trap draw for next Sunday’s semi finals. Marco looks to be in the hardest heat but he does have a nice pitch on the rails in trap 1, so were pleased with that. I had planned to watch Head iton Tom in the mon & fri 575 comp at Romford but alas I had tickets to see Deacon Blue at the Royal Albert Hall with Mrs D. The concert was first class but Tommy was ko’d at the first bend! No selections today at SP.

After completing some essential household chores on Tuesday and arranging my greyhound physio to come over Thursday to check over Tommy, I set about ringing round my contacts and watch some of last weeks videos. Research is an essential part of my business, time consuming but worthwhile. I decided to break my rules and put up Kowloon Conner at SP – I normally don’t play at SP…..but there’s no open racing tomorrow! Hence the advice……damn Conner had every chance when leading but Hather George nailed him right on the line!

Quiet day Wednesday with no open racing anywhere in the country, no bets advised. I was busy painting the outside of my new office, later after some more research I posted out my ante post selections for the Henlow KAB Maiden Derby to my subscribers.

A trip to Ernie Gaskin’s kennels Thursday morning to meet Kevin Lewis who popped over to check out Tommy. Amazingly he checked out 100% sound and will be back on track soon. I sent out an early morning selection from Hove that I knew was going to be backed by connections but as fate would have it Home Shadow was nearly put off the track into the old totaliser board and she still ran a remarkable race coming second. She was an eye catcher and must be backed if returning to Hove in the near future. The night was rescued by Any Dak winning the East Anglian Derby advised to my punters at 9/2 ante post before the Semi Finals last Saturday. Yet another ante post winner in 2013.

Newsletter readers have Norah McEllistrim’s Ballymac Marine last weeks free tip advised at 3/1 and is now 2/1f in the Puppy Cup Final. My subscribers have a 10/1 voucher on Peter Goodfellow’s’s Landed at Last whose now 3/1. I feel the winner will come from one of the above.

For tonight’s free tip the hammer has fallen on Jim Reynolds Swift Missile. He loves to lead up and get across to the rails and can do just that with two slower starters inside him.
