Friday was even more busy than usual with having to fit in hospital visits to see my beautiful grand daughter Poppy-Rose. Newsletter sent off with a New Year bonus to the readers of my ante post Coronation Cup selections as my free tip. I told my subscribers the same information and that there would be a selection for tonight posted much later on. So all my chores done it was time to head off to Romford. I had arranged to meet my friend Rudders he had travelled down from Manchester for the weekend to see his dogs run. Upon my arrival at the Essex track I met another friend of mine Keith who had also travelled down from Manchester he told me his dog Karma Cause was a certainty. I introduced him to Rudders who promptly told him that his dog Dower Matt would win that race. Excellent banter took place over a few beers and watching the Coronation Cup heats. My subscribers selection Britania Rachel could never get in terms with Jazz Tilly in her heat but like all my ante post selections, safely qualified for Wednesdays semi finals. Onto the contest of the night and it was settled in a few strides by Dower Matt whose performance was breath taking destroying a good field in a very fast time! Rudders was so excited afterwards that he drove straight past his hotel and was some five miles further down the road before realising he was lost!! Unbelievable Jeff!
Saturday saw no open racing in the UK and nothing on the RPGTV action to get me remotely interested, which was fine as I was back off to see my grand daughter. I did however indicate to my subscribers that my trainer Ernie Gaskin was on fire with 3 open race winners last night from his three runners and to keep an eye on his runners at the Essex track tonight. He had the last three winners in the top grade contests! I also see Bet Kudos has a greyhound tipster called Trap Nap – seems to know his stuff – nice concept with pay as you win deal.
Usual Sunday morning met Rudders at the kennels to walk all our dogs and give them well earned treats. A spot of Sunday lunch at my friends ensued and I was called by Angus the dog who was very strong on one dog Westmead Chris on the Henlow card. I posted it out to my subscribers we had missed 2/1 as I am posting much later now, but there was 7/4 available. He duly hosed up which was a very pleasing end to a very nice day.
Had a few chores to do Monday especially as my new baby grand daughter was getting home from hospital. So watching the weeks videos was put on the back burner! Normally Mondays are no bet days as no firm prices up but b365 priced up Nottingham. Thought Newinn Rocket was worth a bet and posted to subscribers. Took the 6/4 and was returned 10/11 no dramas as he did what I thought he would.
Off to Romford first thing Tuesday for there first trial session after the festive period to watch with my two dogs Patch & Holly amongst them. Both went well and should be back on the card soon. Home to find b365 had priced up the Sheffield opens (not really a favourite stomping ground of mine) but a couple of dogs had taken my eye at the Yorkshire track during the bags track championship. Put up Corkish Mick as a selection expected him to prove too good for hot favourite Golden Wonder but both dogs hampered each other all the way round. It wasn’t a good night for fancied runners but that happens sometimes.
The Coronation Cup semi finals were the main event on RPGTV for our Wednesday night viewing. We had three ante post selections running in the semis. They appeared very competitive heats so no new bets were advised as I felt we had a good chance of getting something through to next Tuesdays Sky covered final. Hometown Honey didn’t let the side down winning her semi in the fastest time and has her favourite trap 6 draw in the final to give subscribers good hope of collecting their 20/1 vouchers!! Her trainer Mark Wallis though has no less than four of the finalists who can all win the Final IMO so it’s not a gimme! I do however know which one is fancied by the kennel to land the outright honours. This information will be posted to my clients on Sky Final night.
Thursday saw good open race action from Hove and some average graded stuff from Henlow.
We stayed at the South Coast track for our selection. I was looking for a bit of value but the greedy bookies had priced up like there lives depended on it! So as my dear old father always told me ‘a short priced winner is better than a long priced loser’ Step up Lode Esteem who looked the best bet of the night at 6/4 IMO. Banged out and led all the way just how we like it. So a good end to a very exciting week for and the winners are flowing again.
Free Tip time now….I see the Betfan daily free tip has started well in 2014 and features in the top 10 presently so I better not let the side down. I was taken with Penny’s Pong performance last week in the bitches race when beating Ali’s Avenger. The trap draws are reversed but I see no change in the result. Another fast start will pave the way to victory.
