Friday saw the end of the month and I looked to finish with a flourish but it wasn’t to be with both the free tip Sharon’s Return and the late selection Oakfield Lucy was denied a lead and a win by Aayamzalad. Then to top it all my dog Head iton Tom was just touched off from leading at the 1st bend by Tyrur Andy who went onto score in really fine fashion. It was an enjoyable evening’s open racing nonetheless.
Both Saturday and Sunday saw no bets advised because there was a busy weeks racing ahead with the Monmore Puppy Derby starting on Monday and Wimbledon’s Sky meeting featuring the Sprinbok Final on Tuesday. I was concentrating on both those events.
Monday was an early start and saw me send subscribers my ante post selections for the Monmore Puppy Derby as the heats were taking place on the bags afternoon service in your local bookmakers. We got two out of three through to the semi finals. However puppies are notoriously difficult to predict. We may add another selection before the semi finals.
Tuesday was another early start as on Sky nights ‘the prices disappear quicker than Usain Bolt out of the blocks’ two selections were sent out. I was at Wimbledon with Cheesey and Andy to watch Blackstone Marco unfortunately he missed the break while Swift Keith didn’t clocking a very impressive 28.22 – Marco is still settling into his new kennel and I’m sure he will be back winning soon! Carpo missed the race as he was busy sunning himself in Marco Island Florida. The rest of the evening was full of top quality racing and both my selections obliged for my subscribers Wee Tiger Tots and Rewind Express – then our ante post selection Cornamaddy Jumbo advised at 5/1 romped home in the Springbok Final, keeping going our fantastic ante post record in 2014. 26.5 points profit made the trip home a very pleasant one.
Wednesday saw no bets as the action on RPGTV was all graded and nothing wetted my appetite. I had a busy day anyway catching up with my videos and reviewing form cards for upcoming meetings.
I noticed that my subscribers have dwindled in the last two weeks but the same happened last year when the Cheltenham was happening. They missed out on last nights good work! Last month admittedly was a blip but I’m still 3rd in the Betfan all time table.
Thursday saw a poorer than normal Hove card but I picked two selections out for subscribers but I decided to split the stakes. The first Crossfield Delia was never at the races after failing to secure an important early lead. The second Tap & Go made a hash of the start and that was the end of that especially over the shorter 475 hove trip.
Friday’s come round quickly and it’s always a busy morning with the newsletter to be sent out with accompanying free tip. I’m off as usual to Romford later to look for any Golden Sprint clues.
As I don’t like any of the flying four priced up races on the Romford card instead we’re going to prop up an ante post selection for the Monmore Puppy Cup before Mondays Semi Finals.
It was hard not to be impressed with the performance of Jim Daly’s Scarface in the heats. This un-raced pup did everything right and clocked an amazing 28.05. He looks the real deal and we should take the 8/1 vouchers available for him to win next Fridays final.
Ante Post – Monmore Puppy Derby (Final 14/3/2014)
Scarface – Win bet @ 8/1 Boylesports & Stan James
Back next Friday.
