Friday’s fly-by even quicker with the Derby on – newsletter free tip was sent out after my subscribers to the GMT and Derby tips got their email with selections. All this completed by 9.30 am. No time to put my feet up though started to look at tomorrow’s derby card again.
Then before I knew it I was off to Romford to watch my evergreen star Head iton Tom run.
Got myself a good spot over the Millennium stand in front of the TV screen to watch the derby action as well as the live Romford racing.
It was an up and down night with both sites having one winner from two selections ensuring a small profit. But the icing on the cake was applied when Tom bolted out and held his good 575 metres field at bay – ensuring I had another nice pick up from Ladbrokes who were biggest on Tom for the second week running. Oh nearly forgot we landed the free tip for a second week in a row when Farloe Calvin won earlier in the evening. But I don’t see any new members joining as a result – makes you wonder why you bother!
Still buzzing from last night on Saturday morning but early Derby advices were sent out.
Thought the racing tonight looked very tricky. Then I took Mrs D out to her favourite restaurant for lunch, as a treat for getting a new job, paid from Ladbrokes winnings on Tommy. Home to watch the betfan.com/TV Victoria Cup racing tip disappoint – it was never sighted. Mind you my own efforts over at Wimbledon weren’t much better. Between the two sites we hit the target once from five throws. However we still have three ante post selections through to next Saturdays third round. The draw was made after racing and threw up some interesting races!
Sunday usual kennel visit then home to look at Henlow card after a phone call from Angus the dog who strongly fancied two runners. I decide to put one of them up as a selection and back it before meeting some friends for a spot of Sunday lunch. Home to find the selection has been backed off the boards but surprise surprise I get a phone call from Angus from the track – there’s a non runner – so everyone is on at SP. Disaster so from sitting pretty with a 5/2 voucher I know the stingy track bookies will have this dog a 5/4 shot no value whatsoever! Not that it mattered anyway as the dog ran poorly and could only manage third.
Monday is catch up day watching race videos and making some phone calls to my network of contacts. Having quickly scanned the Nottingham card I thought there was a Charlie lister dog that was worth a bet. I called ‘Big Phil’ who is my contact there he agreed with me and said to take the 13/8 with b365 as he thought it would be odds on at the track.
So bet placed and sent out to subscribers. Phil phoned later after the race as it wasn’t covered on the bags service, the selection was coming with a winning run at the fourth bend but was crowded badly at that point. ‘Thats dog racing’
Tuesday there was nothing at Sheffield that interested me to have a bet and it was the same story on Wednesday with Romford and Peterborough’s graded RPGTV action. So it gave me the perfect opportunity to have a good look at the third round derby heats. I liaised with a couple of my pro-punter friends about the derby so far over a couple of beers.
I decided to add to my derby ante post portfolio and sent out a late night advice to subscribers.
Thursday saw me take a trip to the seaside with Mrs D on what was a lovely day to do so. I went to Hove to watch my dog Blackstone Marco. I just managed to send out a selection to subscribers before I left. (Thankfully b365 had priced up the whole card)
After a coffee and a walk around the Brighton Marina we met up with co-owner Carpo in Kemptown for a pre-race meal. We just made the track in time to see My selection Montis Buster fall out of the traps, something you just can’t do in a sprint. He ran well in the circumstances to finish third but that’s no consolation. Marco looked a million dollars on parade and he made no mistake bolting out of the traps and leading a good class field a merry dance. I make no apologies as I never tip my own dogs to subscribers – bad karma. However if you follow my weekly column or are a subscriber you will know Tom and Marco are probably worth a small bet in every race they run.
Free tip Friday going for a hat-trick of wins – back to Romford tonight to watch my evergreen veteran Head iton Tom who is also going for the hat trick tonight and you can never write him off. However I think Reel Trickyone who is a class act may exact his revenge on my boy tonight.
