We started off the new year at Fold4Gold with a good day but it could have so easily been a mega day with 2 winners out of 3 in our patent. Swing Bowler winning at 3/1 s/p and Home Run winning at 3/1 advised with Bet Victor.
Always remember to take early prices with best odds guaranteed firms as the double paid 16/1 as at s/p you are short changing yourself by only getting 10/1.
Of course as I said it could have been so much better going for the treble but Quinte Du Chatelet faded out of contention after leading most of the way in the Exeter mud.
These multiple bets are great fun and when we do bang one in you can make a packet so come and join the fun for 2013.
There seems to be a few decent bets up at Ayr today if the meeting goes ahead but they are for paying clients. However I have had a good look at today’s card for Howies Hottie and after pencilling in a few I decided they are too short in price at around 7/4 or 2/1. I believe if I put up a free tip make it exciting.
Therefore I’m taking a stab at the 4.40 Wolverhampton on Fenella Fudge. The horse seems to run better after a break and having been off for 58 days he should be fresh enough to do himself justice. He has dropped to a competitive mark and the Shaw stable know how to get one ready. I would expect a price in the region of 16/1 making him a little value against the more fancied runners.
Did you see the race at Uttoxeter the other day when there was a right mix up at the start and the horse ridden by A.P. got left a mile at the start. It’s about time the bookies made a new years resolution if a horse can’t win then he certainly can’t lose and punters get their money back.
Well Roberto Mancini says when Fergie bought Van Persie it gifted them the Title. I have to agree but with the January transfer window now open I have a bit of advice that could tip the scales back their way. All they need do is break the bank and buy Gareth Bale from Tottenham. The Welshman is quicker, younger and just as skilful as the Dutch Striker and it could make for a great second half of the Season.
EYECATCHERS
Grand Crus trainer D.Pipe – Ran a cracker in 3rd in the King George after a breathing op. He will strip a lot fitter next time and could give Long Run a right fright if they meet on better ground.
Swing Bowler trainer D.Pipe – Part of the winning double mentioned above. This mare is related to lots of winners and will improve throughout the Season. Could be Cheltenham Festival material.
Scribe trainer D.Evans – Super winner for me at 14/1 when running at Wolverhampton last week. Dave bought this one on the cheap from Aiden O’Brien and has finally found the key. There should be more wins to come with this one but you won’t get the big prices next time.
Kakatosi trainer M.Murphy – This was a decent horse for the Baldings but has now changed yards and winning over 6 furlongs. I feel another win is possible and a step up to 7 furlongs can help.
Cornus trainer A.McCabe – Old timer who has dropped miles in the ratings. The thing is when these horses get slower shrewd trainers lower them in grade to find the right race at decent odds and this is where these trainers make their money. This horse is a prime example so look out for him this Winter.
Wishing all readers and their families a Happy New Year.
Back next Wednesday.
Howard Davis.
