The week before Cheltenham takes you back to your childhood and the week before Christmas when you attempted to close your eyes and wish away the week but the harder you tried the slower the week went.
It’s raining at Cheltenham so it looks like we are going to get proper jumping good to soft ground which means no excuses from anyone. Sad news for the Twiston Davies yard as Imperial Commander was ruled out of the Gold Cup this week with a lung Infection. The yard also pulled out two others which reminds us the first thing a Trainer aims for is to get the horse to the races and anything else is a bonus. This will be a body blow for the yard and you have to think that is the Commanders last chance of regaining his Gold Cup Crown gone.
Bookmakers are falling over themselves to at least appear generous people with increasingly crazy offers of money back if this wins, free bets if this falls, free beer for a year if you finish second to Simonsig (ok I made the last one up). What you have to do with these is read the small print and of course build these offers around your selections. Paddy Power are out to get Hurricane Fly for their lives so if you fancy the fly then back with them and if he wins you get your money back on your bets. It’s an offer that potentially could lose them 5 million so there will be a nervous atmosphere at their HQ. What is in Hurricane Fly’s favour is that only ten run so it may be a small field crawl where he can use his flat speed. The other Trainers must instruct their jockeys to ensure it isn’t, I’m sure Paddy Power is ringing them as week speak.
At Power Naps we relish the Festival above any other weeks racing and we have the pedigree for this week that other services can only dream about. We will be betting big on all four days so join us and experience the power of Power Naps at Cheltenham and beyond.
Back next Thursday.
