A great day for Power Naps yesterday with 30 more points of profit added to our mega month of December.
Yesterday we witnessed what must be ranked as one of the great King Georges as Long Run and Captain Chris battled it out up the run in.
I’ve criticised Whaley Cohen on Long Run many times so it’s only fair to say this was his finest hour. He still missed several strides on the way round but the horse showed yesterday that he is a real Champion. He has been overshadowed by being around at the same time as Kauto Star and Denman but yesterday he proved conclusively he is a superstar. One by one the protagonists fell away leaving the resurgent but wayward Captain Chris to scrap it out with Long Run. Certainly after the last Long Run was headed and he dug immensely deep to get back up on the line.
We may well see the same two horses scrap it out up the Cheltenham Hill in March because I certainly cannot see anything from behind them yesterday overturning the form. Riverside Theatre is a good horse but no way does he get a truly run three miles so connections must go back in trip after yesterday.
The Giant Bolsterer and Cue Card look like nearly horses at the top level and Cue Card isn’t helped by having the hapless Joe Tizzard aboard who was as deeply unimpressive as ever yesterday.
The eventual third Grand Crus went someway to redeeming his reputation yesterday with a solid performance, he would be my fancy for the Ryanair at Cheltenham on the back of that.
Power Naps will take you through to Cheltenham and beyond with the most proven trackable record of profitable punting there is out there. December has been massive for the service January just might be even better!
A Happy New Year to you all!
Back next Thursday.
