The Gambling Don

July 6, 2014 By admin Leave a Comment

The Dons Saturday couldn’t have got off to a worse start when I broke down on the way to Sandown. I should really have taken the hint and gone home but after some excellent work from the RAC I was on my way with Penny’s you should have got this looked at in the week ringing in my ears for the last hour.

I don’t know how heavy it looked but there was heavy sustained rain at the track which ruined things for my selections. I thought that True Story would show us how good he is on a flat track yesterday but he ended up being beaten by his own 100/1 pacemaker in a farce of an eclipse.

What Buick was doing on the Fugue giving group horses a ten length start only he would know but he was getting dogs abuse from the enclosures on what will go down as one of the worst rides in Group 1 races ever. I’m told Jim McGrath defended him on Channel 4, if that’s true then he must have seen a different race. Gosden’s patience will only go so far and Buick will need some big winners sharpish to get back in his good books after that. The owners the Lloyd Webbers looked distinctly glum after ironically as I did on Penny’s birthday when we went to see one of their musicals in the West End.

This week it’s my home tracks Festival week at Newmarket and I cannot wait, if you’re not in my private service then this is the time to join. We are the top Betfan service on the year but this week I have some huge bets planned at big prices.

Mr Bells rambling column from Malta. Let’s hope they revoke his passport, by the way claimed The Don is trying to get out of buying him champagne. Not at all as he seems to have more holidays than Thomas Cook I’m pleased to say I haven’t seen him. I’m sure this week we can sit down and get it out of the way as quickly as possible. And yes Simon Holden I did see you as I drove by at York I simply didn’t want to give you a lift.

Tough days racing today but I have a strong one for you at Ayr in the 2.00. It’s the Johnstone trained Lilac Tree and he is 5/2 with bet365 which is a very fair price. He just got nabbed on the line the other day but that was a better race and he should go one better today.

Join me this week, trust in the Don… It pays to!

Back next Sunday.
