Aintree has made major improvements over the Summer and I’m looking forward to seeing them in person as I make my way from Doncaster.
Its been a busy week with Newmarket a real meeting for die hards and professionals also I saw Andrew Bell there.
Doncaster was informing everyone that the ground was good to soft all week encouraging Trainers and owners to run.
I arrived there Friday morning and walked the course with a trainer and Jockey who both said it was typical very soft Autumn ground.
By Saturday it was really testing, I do hope somebody who runs racing can threaten courses with some sort of censure of their ground updates.
It’s the most important element of what we use to forecast results and in this day and age we should know accurately what the state of any course is at any time. I help certain trainers place their horses and I know that many of them now guess themselves from Weather reports the state of the ground and barely look at what the course is saying.
BetFan has some of the top tipsters and bettors on their books (and Andrew Bell…. see what I did there) and I’m sure they would all agree they pay only lip service to official forecasts. It’s making courses look stupid at best and must be addressed.
Most of us would agree there is too much low quality racing so the decision to reopen Great Leighs is bizarre and totally pointless to the Don. The track was unviable before and will just stage dross. Kempton and Wolverhampton are at least staging a decent fare these days on the sand but Southwell and sadly Lingfield now stage Bookies fodder for me and I can’t see this place being any different.
Right Aintree is certainly not fodder, I love the place and our bet is a confident one today in the 3.15. Pauline Robeson is not a well known name but boy can she train and she sends the exciting Dawn Commander here after a good win here last time. Robeson is a former show jumper and she excels at teaching horses to jump quickly and safely a massive asset round here. Dawn Commander is progressive and though off a higher weight than ever is more than up to winning this. Bet him to win at 8/1 and lets have a Sunday to remember.
Have a great day and as always Trust In the Don.
Back next Sunday.
