The Gambling Don

November 23, 2014 By admin Leave a Comment

Two days at Ascot for the Don on what proved to be very sticky ground.

Barry Geraghty was mildly criticised for a ride by Andy Bell in his must miss sorry must read diary and after checking my pulse The Don is forced to agree with him as I haven’t seen Geraghty in such rank bad form in well over a decade.

He gave two Henderson faves on Friday rides that an apprentice would forget in a hurry and though Geraghty has done me plenty of favours in the past we have to tell it as it is. It’s a strange time for the Henderson yard with a lot of their banker favourites getting turned over and some bigger priced stuff like the bumper winner Sugar Baron who looked tremendous beforehand winning. Because of that you can’t say avoid them but they need to land some banker bets and get Geraghty’s confidence high again. Believe me even the top jocks and Trainers go through spells where they doubt themselves!

November has been a sticky month for the Don but I’m lucky my members have been with me for a long time and trust me. We are over 500 up for the year and we are not finished yet, I want to take us over 600 by Xmas so if you are not part of the service now is the perfect time to join.

I’m taking the next two days to evaluate the jumps season and work out how the top yards are doing and who we need to be following in the coming weeks. Things change very quickly in this game and you need to have every box ticked.

Today’s cards are lets not kid ourselves dire but there is a good bet in there lurking in the 2.45 at Towcester. It’s the fave Royale Knight currently 7/4 with Paddy Power and though up in the weights he should be too good for these plodders and land us a Sunday winner.

As well as a tip I’m going to now give you a horse to follow each week, you would be wise to keep a very close eye on these and build up a little portfolio.

The Don’s Notebook

This week has to be Sugar Baron who won yesterdays bumper at Ascot, he looked great beforehand but this run will definitely bring him on and he needs to go in your Notebook!!

Have a great week and don’t forget to join my service as we push on towards Xmas.

Plus join me, Andy Bell and The Colonel over three days at the brilliant Hennesy Festival, it should be a Special to remember.

Back next Sunday.
