Great news that Lingfield has introduced sectional timing, provided by TurfTrax.
In my opinion every track should be required to provide this data, how anyone can judge a horses performance just based on visual analysis is madness. In the US and other countries in the world that use it must laugh at us, speed handicapping is an essential part of my betting armoury. I suppose the less people that use it in the UK is to my advantage and gives me a big edge over those who rely on their own eyes solely to evaluate a horse race.
I touched on this the other week that I have been watching the in-running markets on the betting exchanges recently and this is an area when a top speed handicapper can win. It’s amazing how quickly you can pick up when a race is being run too quickly and the leaders will fold by watching how fast the first two quarters of a race have been run, you get to know the sectional times almost off by heart, the all-weather tracks are excellent for this as the surfaces are consistent and there are loads of races run on them so you have plenty of data. This is what betting is about, being able to gain an advantage on other punters and odds compliers with information they don’t have or are reluctant to use.
